EFY turning into an indoctrination tool

I know LDS are given to an overly affected, schmaltzy speaking voice, but this is quite possibly the worst example I've seen of it. And that's before the singing breaks out. If I was seeing this live, I'd probably get a nose bleed from the vicarious embarrassment.

Growing up, I listened to quite a few testimonies given by youngsters who recently returned from EFY. They always expressed a significant impact on their furry little testimony. I recall expressions of gratitude for the influence of the counselors. I learned quickly that the holy spirit was exceedingly strong at these events. You could take out a knife and slice it like butter. Furry little testimonkeys ravaged the buttery meals like hungry lions. Their little bellies bulged and they licked their little lips in delight.

THE HOME now being used as an indoctrination tool for basic principles of right and wrong, hot and cold, sharp and dull, please and thank you, and taking care of pets!

About two years ago a friends son returned from his mission and signed up to be a summer counselor at an EFY (Especially for youth) event. He had a great time doing this as well as the teens as they had many fun teenage activities and only about 25% of it was dedicated to scripture reading, journal writing, sharing his missionary experience, testimony meetings and doctrinal discussions (week long event).

Well my friend heard from his son again about this years EFY. It seems as if most of the emphasis in EFY is about 75% based on religious matters and a small amount dedicated to teens having traditional fun teenage activities. Each teen is asked to commit to a life of religious service and dedication throughout their life's.

Is this typical of EFY or is it just some overzealous people running a few of these EFY's?

I'm not seeing a problem with this. I want to know what gave the kids the idea that EYI was a fun filled week with little gospel instruction. It's always been fun-filled gospel instruction here.

I always heard from my friends that EFY was the best week of their lives. I never did go to EFY and now I am glad I didn't cause I realize what it was. My sister came back from EFY once and she said it changed her life.
