When did this happen exactly? Late 90's...does it correlate with the internet? Because this was NOTHING compared to SKIING ON SUNDAY
when I was attending...

I'm gonna say about 5 years ago. Now, the porn is gonna get you! It will wrap you in it's evil clutches and force you to become a raging addict who can't refrain from watching it at work. Then, you'll lose your job and your wife will probably divorce you and you will have to attend the Mormon 12 step addiction program. Oh, and your kids will be ashamed of you. So ashamed.

How many conference addresses were about skiing on Sunday? Cuz there are dozens of CG talks and Ensign articles on PORN. Seems like there is a lesson about it in some form quarterly.

My freaking Visiting Teachers have even talked about PORN for a VT lesson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blixa,

I'm more afraid to let my family know I ski on Sunday than I am to let them know I'm addicted to looking at Land's End swimsuit models.

I would say Skiing on Sunday is still really bad but porn just pushed the envelope. Skiing on Sunday didn't get reduced it just fell into an eclipse.

Zee.

Why does the church seem to be obsessed with the porn issue. We can all talk and joke about it, but what's it all mean?

That 70% of all LDS couples are dealing with porn addiction. The people are getting fired because they are watching it from work. That kind of stuff. How we need to protect our children from porn.

This might have been the same time where they went off on the 5th grade "growing and changing" class because there is brief mention of masturbation being normal.

My guess is that this demonstrativeness comes from the protesters own inner repressed urges of being attracted to pornography. By hammering others, they seek to affirm their own resistance to this attraction.

We can help reassure them that by their watching of internet porn, to help catalog any degradations and sins they can find, is perfectly normal.

Perhaps on the local level. But there is more to this issue I think.

Runtu wrote:I don't bother with porn, but it seems like some people in the church are really obsessed with it. The way people talk about porn, it's this terrible scourge like the black plague or baby formula spiked with crack. This article may be a bit of a reality check:

The Sunny Side of Porn

From what I know, the cycle of guilt and shame over porn is what often drives the obsession, and research seems to confirm my belief.

Have a look at of the the comments here on the same article:

I especially like the one about the fact that porn is a Church-manufactured problem for which the Church has a manufactured solution.
