Granted, but unlike three lefts, two wrongs don't make a right.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Come on Sethbag, you know you would get some kind of satisfaction just knowing that Packer died a painful death while facing his mortality with scared eyes as he jumps into the unknown. He judged and condemned others and in the end finds himself poor, naked, and destitute. He lived a lie and will die a lie. So says the things written in the Facsimile No. 3.
The Explanations given by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the Facsimile No. 3 are an utter lie and have been defended by liars such as Packer. Let him die in shame.

Shulem, I would not wish a painful or agonizing life or death for BKP.
Now, if when he dies, he is found naked but for a belt tightly around his neck, I would find that hilariously ironic.

I don't know anything of the sort. I imagine when Packer goes he'll be full of faith that in a short while he's going to be up in heaven greeting his departed friends and ancestors and whatnot, and collecting his attaboys from Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith. I believe that Packer actually believes that the LDS church really is true.
He judged and condemned others and in the end finds himself poor, naked, and destitute. He lived a lie and will die a lie. So says the things written in the Facsimile No. 3.
If the naysayers have it right, he'll hardly be poor. He also won't be naked, clothed as he will be in Joseph Smith's masonic rip-off costume. And he'll be surrounded by family and sycophants, and deeply mourned by thousands and thousands of chapel Mormons for whom he is Da Shiznit.

I realize you're a big "Facsimile No. 3" guy, and agree with you on that, but really there's an awful lot BKP would have to answer for if there really were some kind of benevolent cosmic deity. To rip off someone I read of once but don't remember the exact source, BKP's most effective defense at the final judgment bar would be that before he deceived others, he had taken great pains to first deceive himself.

TBMs love Packer. I don't think he'll damage the church. He teaches what they all believe anyway. He'll strengthen the church.

Back when I loved and defended the church, a BKP presidency would have filled me with dread. Now, as an evil apostate, the prospect fills me with malicious glee.

Re: GCs won't be as dull if Packer outlives Monson
Back when I was an arch-TBM, around the time of my mission, say, I really loved BKP. He said it the way it was, or so I thought then. If it hadn't been for that niggling little concession to science and intellectual honesty which eventually got the better of my once cast-iron faith, I might still be a BKP fan to this day.
I agree that BKP won't hurt the church, if viewed from the point of the chapel Mormon. He's right up their alley. He might hurt recruitment efforts (thus hurting the church in the corporate sense), and he might lessen the appeal of the church to a lot of outsiders (which is pretty low anyhow). But to the butts already firmly planted in the pews, I think this man will be quite the rock star.

Are you gay, Paul? I'm just curious because of your avatar and a few things you have said lately. don't' get me wrong. I don't care if you're gay. You can be gay all you want as far as I'm concerned. I'm just curious if that's the way you roll now.

I'm kinda curious about that too. I've been off for the last few months doing more military training. Now I come back and Paul O is gay? WTF. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;-)

Nomad,
I've always been gay but now I practice it! I love being gay -- it's who I really am and it's wonderful. I've had more joy being gay in this short little while then I had in all those dull years of serving in the Mormon church while all the while denying myself for who I really was. I have found true joy in being my true gay self. It's better than the feelings of the Holy Ghost! I swear it, and lie not.
I'm free!
