In general, the general syndrome follows closely, in core psychological attributes, the dynamics attending other kinds of addiction, such as drug, alcohol, and gambling addiction. The "drug of choice" is, however, different.
The "drug of choice" is what has me confused. Personally, I think sexual desire is a normal human experience. Would a loss of sexual desire be a victory over addiction or a good reason to talk with your doctor? Could one call quenching one's thirst giving in to a water addiction?

By "pornography" I mean graphic media, of any kind, who's intent is prurient; who's intent is to stimulate, incite, and provoke sexual desire, ideation, and attempts to satiate such desires. The exploitation of human sexuality, in other words, as public entertainment stimulating further desire/craving for that entertainment as well as the activities portrayed therein.
Where do we draw the line? If a photograph of a pretty lady wearing modest, but appealing attire, arouses sexual desire in some, can that be called pornography? Is public entertainment an evil? Are ballerinas, performing "Swan Lake", pornographic because they may stimulate desires in members of the audience? Even if they create a craving for people to see more ballets?
People are naked by nature. Clothing is the aberration. Pornography is truly in the eye of the beholder. A very hard thing to define.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

I voted that porn addiction is real. I would say it can be pervasive. Like anything that drives us in physical and chemical ways it can be addicting. However I think that the Church can over react about it and some man or woman who views porn casually is likely not addicted to it. But the way the Church approaches it it seems that any use even if casual is considered to be an addiction that is going to destroy the person and the marriage.
Overall thought I think porn is a bad thing for many other reasons as well.
