Porn is easier for the church to handle and villianize, in my opinion. It is much easier to say "don't look at porn" than to address all the stuff going on with sexless marriages.

Plus, I don't expect to ever hear a pro-sex GC address. The church is far too Victorian to do that. Doncha think? They can barely stand to say the word "masturbate."

Sexuality is far more complicated than we learn at school or at church. And church actually teaches some very damaging things about sexuality which can be carried into the marriage.

Lack of sex in a marriage is very damaging and can cause more damage than porn usage. However, I still think it is far more important to look at the reasons for the sexlessness. Saying "you have to have sex with me because you said 'yes'" is very unlikely to get the desired response.

If a woman tries to tell you about an actor/character she is interested in TAKE NOTES!!! I mean, my god, it's not rocket science. It just feels like it sometimes. That's like handing you the key to the candy store right there!

Of course, if the woman was wise she would order something out of the damn VS catalog and wear it for her husband on the weekend. (garments make this an issue for LDS couples)

I'd say that a lot of couples would benefit if they stopped treating each other like husband/wife and started treating each other like boyfriend/girlfriend.

Anyway, I agree. I actually started a thread a while back on my dream Relief Society/PH lesson about sex. Maybe I'll rustle it up. Men need to be taught what turns a woman on and women need to be taught what pleases a man and herself. I know too many women who don't even understand their own biology.

Because there was such a strong fear of marrying a nonmember, I dated very little before my mission. Unfortunately, understanding women and what they want comes through experience. I didn't have any. Popular culture did seem to feed me a lot of lies about how women are really wired. It'd have been nice to not have had to learn so much by experience.

So many things are preached in both school and church with other motives than the truth from the time you first learn to talk. I felt the same way about career counseling.

I like the lesson suggestions but am quite sure such will never happen in our lifetime. An interesting contrast on the health of sexual teachings is to read the forums over at themarriagebed.com . An evangelical board. Some of the churches/pastors seem to really "get" how healthy sexuality improves a marriage and have abandoned all of the puritanical/cultural crap and just plain erroneous teaching that so plagues us, in regards to preparing people for healthy and fulfilling married sexuality.

Some of us, on the other hand, actually prefer a religion that includes some type of correlation with reality.
