You're correct. We just don't have all the facts. Joseph Smith didn't tell us everything that happened in his life and there were obviously some closely guarded secrets within his secret society in which you had to swear by your throat you'd never tell a soul.
My guess is that Joseph Smith was pleasured by boys several times during his career. Heck, if I had the power he did, I'd be living it up too!
