A Plea For the New Year

Re: A Plea For the New Year
I have mixed feelings on this. It's hard for me to judge since I'm a relatively new poster, so It's hard for me to imagine the frustration of dealing with the same posters for years. Plus I've never actively engaged any of the posters you've named. At the same time, I had a thread where I argued with Nightlion. Frankly I thought some of his posts were excessively long winded and that he had some pretty strange beliefs. But still I thought he made some good points and I don't think the board is better in his absence. And I still tried to read his posts as long as they were.
Honestly I don't know what I'm trying to say. Certainly no one is obligated to respond to or read comments from posters if they feel said poster adds nothing to the discussion.

Hey, let's not pile on BCSpace - he just posted a great response to BrianH on the "Is Jesus a Mormon" thread.

Normally this is correct. But even BCSpace is entitled to occasional strokes of brilliance. For some reason he's just never bothered me the same way Why Me and Droopy and Pahoran and the other weirdos do.

True. Again, I'm not advocating censoring bcspace. Even a broken clock is guaranteed to be correct twice day.

Agreed. One thing I mentioned on Consig's thread in a discussion with Why Me involved my thoughts on BC.
Although he and I disagree on things, I do respect him because he is both genuine and consistent. He not only "talks the talk", but obviously "walks the walk" as well.
Here's to you, BC! I raise a glass of sparkling apple cider in your honor. :-)

So when evidence and concise logical arguments are presented it makes you dumber? I have indeed found this to be the case with both anti-Mormons and pseudo partially believing Mormons.and it goes a long way to decreasing the utility of this board
Only if you consider this board's utility to be obscuring the truth. I would certainly agree that it's foundational purpose. But I feel pretty good about my work here in exposing yellow journalistic and hair-brained anti-Mormon theories. Heck, even the detractors have begun to realize what LDS doctrine is and that is a great leap forward for them intellectually.
BC are you assuming you are one of the mentally challenged to which Aristolte refers? I don't think that about you. I am sorry if you think that about yourself.

I think you owe us a link to just one convincing instance of you doing such a thing.
Oh and I think you still owe me a horse or two.

Aristotle - you seem to be advocating a change to the boards philosophy, a change to its moderation standards or a co-ordinated victimisation of posters you personally don't feel meet standards you wish to impose.
I think you are bang out of order.
