Adoption is in my personal experience, and also in my reading of and listening to serious discussions of the topic by those involved, very rarely a question of whether child A should best be adopted by would-be parents X, Y or Z.

It is far more commonly a question of whether child A remains in institutional care, with all that implies by way of lack of long-term bonds of affection, and the known risks of exploitation, abuse and neglect, or whether to place it with would-be parents X, who are the only ones on offer.

The strength and rigor of the checks applied to would-be adoptive parents in most developed countries are infinitely stronger than those applied to would-be biological parents of children, which are of course zero (not that I am suggesting they be any different).

I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

So? How does that counter the damage done by being raised without a proper male and/or female role model?

What damage?

Children of gay couples undoubtedly grow up healthier and happier than children of Mormon couples.

Precisely. Remember, the social construct of gender roles is actually eternal.

It's very important to stick to roles that evolved during our hunter-gatherer stage of development. God gets really nostalgic for those days.
