“Fables should be taught as fables, myths as myths, and miracles and poetic fantasies. To teach superstitions as truth is a most terrible thing. The child mind accepts and believes them, and only through great pain and perhaps tragedy can he be in after years relieved of them.”

Hypatia of Alexandria

Yes, I have found anti Mormonism to work this way. It's very insidious, especially among children who grow up in inactive families.

Hypatia was the main character in a recent movie set against apostate christianity. I thought it was pretty good.

I love it. Hypatia was not murdered by a Christian mob. She was murdered by an apostate mob.

If Joseph Smith had been there, he would have saved her all right - probably for wife number 34.

(See, I managed to joke about it.)

That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

I thought this movie was sad:

I should have said, this movie made me feel sad.

Let's see, 300+ years after Christ? Yep, apostate christianity. I merely presented commonly accepted LDS thinking on the matter.

If Joseph Smith had been there, he would have saved her all right - probably for wife number 34.

And I thought it was funny.
