Upon seeing the title of this thread I thought "this can't be right." It isn't. Neither DCP nor Schryver promote or condone racism or slavery, as the thread title suggests. Of course Darth J didn't cite the quote correctly, either. Neither Schryver nor DCP said those words. Carl M. Franklin did.

In your haste to hate everything about the church, it's members, and it's academics, you've become very very lazy. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for this very seriously false charge.

I threw up, too, after seeing yet another lie from the members of this board.

See? Another example of how slavery was just an attempt by righteous men to imitate the true Gospel. In this instance, baptism.

So the idea is that although slavery was horrible, it saved the slaves' descendants from having to live in the impoverished, war-torn continent of Africa?

One of the several problems with that logic is that without the slave trade, Africa might not be in such a depressing state in the first place.

This is a truly perverted reading of Mr Peterson's statement. Hatred of the man is beyond reason. I realize having read message board posts from him for some time, back to when he actually argued with nonmormons, that he can be annoying. He can be dismissive. He is quicker witted than most posters.

What he said in this article is:" enforced servitued of blacks in the United States was a horrific injustice, even at its best an inexcusable offense agianst God, humanity, and fundamental principals of the American founding."

Now I do not share Mr Pertersons politics. Barring unknown negative revelation about our president I will vote for him for a second term. But I do think kneejerk attacks on people as racist, distorting their statements, hurts all nonconservative political chances.

Olimlah, having been commissioned of Jesus H. Christ, I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, Amen.

This is a truly dark thread ... and in the spirit of that statement, I offer this link that I found by accident while googling the source of DarthJ's quotation:

Zadok:
I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis.
Maksutov:
That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.

So you think DCP and Schryver disagree with the quote Darth J put up?

And how to you spell the name of the LDS church? Type it out.

Come on. Tell me.

Why didn't you quote the next part where he talks about the good that can come from evil? The evil, in this case, being slavery.
