I'm not so sure of that.

LDS Inc knows there isn't any objective way to defend the absolute historical truth of it's origins.

Look at how much LDS.org and even Mormon.org has changed over the past five years. I believe they are moving toward making these websites the only sanctioned portal for all questions about LDS, even to the point of making it policy for members to be forbidden from setting up public websites like FAIR.

I believe many of the Mopologists would make a perfect scapegoat for the LDS church at this precise Mormon moment in time. What better way to show that the LDS church is a Christian religion based on love and kindness by publicly throwing a few harsh defenders under the bus.

I see your point.

We are dealing with a multi billion dollar corporation here where the almighty dollar is no respecter of persons, regardless of past positions in said corporation.

Which is exactly the way things were before BYU got involved.

It will be interesting to see if he does this, or if he will just migrate on over to FAIR. Either way, this notion that Dan Peterson is "done" is pretty stupid. I agree. But this makes me wonder: Certainly the the powers-that-be who brought FARMS into BYU knew that the OMIDs could just re-start an independent FARMS if BYU tried to muzzle it after acquiring it. Did those powers-that-be think what they were doing was better than nothing, or did they simply not think that far ahead?
