John can speak for himself, and has, many times. His journey has been one made in fits and starts, and is entirely his own. This is one reason both apologists and apostates have at times been frustrated with him--he has gone back and forth and around and around regarding his stance vis-à-vis the LDS church. Where he was 8 years ago is not where he is today, and his path has not been linear from there to here. Why Droopy feels the need to criticize a fellow member of the LDS church publicly like this is beyond me.

I wonder if Droopy bothered to listen to Uchdorf's conference talk where he gave the following advice specifically to people like Droopy "Stop it!"
“We look to not only the spiritual but also the temporal, and we believe that a person who is impoverished temporally cannot blossom spiritually.”
Keith McMullin - Counsellor in Presiding Bishopric

"One, two, three...let's go shopping!"

Droopy is a cafeteria Mormon, he didn't like Uchdorf's advice, so he has disregarded it. Just like the OMIDs don't like the aspects of Mormon teachings that science have shown to be silly. The OMIDs too are, 'on closer examination', cafeteria Mormons.

All Mormons are cafeteria Mormons. Orthopraxy and orthodoxy are impossible given the inconsistencies within.

He presents himself as a person with Mormon heritage

I used to naïvely think that belief ("faith") was what should be the main ingredient to being Mormon.
