Which the First Presidency believed, hook, line and sinker.... Didn't Oaks write an apologetic on it just so that members would be able to handle the newfound light and knowledge?
Holy Spirit of discernment was absent that day...

No. Some GA who oversee's the MI didn't give a f*** about him either...

Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)
It is amazing how much attention an "antiMormon fizzle" gets at MDD. Since it was announced here that DCP was leaving the Review there have been 12 separate threads spawned at MDD about it or Dehlin (two of which were deleted), which had 1570 plus posts and over 30,000 views.
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

I think it's too early to tell. It depends upon why the decision was made. If I am correct in my own suspicions, and this signals a real intent to move towards mainstreaming and away from retrenchment, then it could be as significant as the September Six. (but in the opposite direction)
Definitely part of mainstreaming.
Except the Sept. 6 weren't BYU prof.s who are supposed to be trust worthy enough to shut up and take any bullet, but they are bitching against another BYU admin.
Some bench marks would be 1890 Manifesto, 1904 Manifesto, 1978 priesthood revelation, Sept. 6.
I'm thinking this is bigger than Sept 6 because its people getting a church pay check going against the grain, all though not as big as 1978, nor close.
I think I posted before, Shipps said this passage would be messy. This is part of the mess. A small, but elite part of the core is squawking long and hard about the change. But not as bad as the fundie polygamist who just would not change.
As you say beastie, we'll see.

"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

Maybe because they are bored with the theology?

by the way, I bet Dr. Peterson receives a longer standing ovation at this Conference, than ever before.
