I wonder why Greg Smith would think that anyone would need an interpretation to understand the plain spoken BKP?

Did Greg Smith have to have someone explain to him what BKP meant by the 'little factory'?

I had a brief post on this review in the wake of the initial breaking of the news on the Dehlin hit piece. If you are at all interested in my reading of Smith on Compton, have a look.

1. Most of the rest of the membership have no idea what Packer said and couldn't care less.

2. According to the Brethren, there will never such a thing as "legitimate confusion". There may be confusion, but it isn't legitimate.

3. The Brethren do not explain anything to anyone. Ever. That is SOP and has been for a generation.

Why do the leaders no longer do anything other than make semi-annual pronouncements? Why do they only talk at the membership instead of to the membership?

And why does the membership put up with it?

These are some questions that have been bothering me recently.

Most members do not care. They listen and either let it fly by them or they don't care. Also, church magazines are full of articles by GAs. These come out monthly and not semi-annually. What do you want them to do? Send you a daily email?

I think you've hit the nail on the head. With living prophets, seers, and revelators, there shouldn't be this kind of confusion. There is no need for these kind of debates. There is no need for this type of ambiguity.

People can come to their own truth through questioning what was said by th GAs. It is called questioning. And there is no confusion in this. What about Jesus and his parables? Who needed such mumbojumbo? Why not just speak plainly and avoid confusion?

Here is the point: no one cared what Packer said except the critics who jump on him regardless of what he says or not says.

The first half of his article recasts what President Packer meant when he asked rhetorically why a loving Heavenly Father would make somebody gay, and goes back over six prior Packer addresses to show that, regardless of what you think about Boyd K. Packer, at least he has been consistent.

The whole point is, of course, that our Heavenly Father never made anyone "gay." The psycho-sexual distortion of gender identity and sexual orientation known as same sex attraction is a feature of mortality and the human condition, as are other perceptual foci or biases that are engendered, generated, or encourages by a complex confluence of biology, internal psychology, and environment.

He allows certain tendencies, biases, and predisposition to occur, just as he "allows" addictions to develop, as a part of our mortal experience.

The Atonement of Jesus Christ, and obedience to the commandments of God, are the answer to these "crosses" all of us, in some form or manifestation, must bear and master.

Remember, Whyme, Consig used to teach "graduate level" gospel doctrine classes at the MENSA 666th ward, and he's just calling the Brethren to repentance. Obedience is the first law of apostasy.

You are right about the graduate level gospel doctrine classes. He was at his heyday on MDD with his bullseye threads and gospel doctrine threads. But now...he is banned and finding fault whenever and wherever possible with the LDS church.
