If you followed some of the logic of folks on the MADhouse thread, you could argue that Boggs's infamous extermination order was "understandable" or that Joseph Smith's incarceration and murder were "understandable" when you look at everything "in context."
Context IS extremely important to properly study and understand history, but all too often people use "context" as an excuse for abhorent behavior, which is well demonstrated by the MADhouse thread.
