I love that film and the book (Flowers for Algernon) it was based on. I remember when the LDS novel, Charly came out I did a slow burn over that title...
But seriously, back to my question. Have they actually inserted Facebook into the new trailer to make it seem more ... whatever?
Has the cheese had even more Velveeta poured on it?
The answer is yes, Blixa. Note also that the new trailer makes the movie appear to be a generic romantic comedy, and omits any suggestion that the whole thing is about An Important Gospel Message.
By the way, I saw three billboards for Charly while running errands around Salt Lake today.
Putting on my Wade Englund hat, I would say the thread title is asking the wrong question. The more salient question is, who ISN'T excited for the 10th anniversary of Charly?

My dear dear DarthJ.
Wade's question most certainly would be:
"Does Charly bring us closer to becoming like Christ?"
Haven't you learned that this is Wade's tactic for avoiding any substantive discussion of almost any question?
"This is why I am a big fan of the Mormon lay. It is important that two people know that they are somewhat compatible in bed. After a couple of Mormon lays, one can know a lot about the other person's sexuality."

Exactly! Does Charly bring us closer to Christ? Does Sam's key fit in Charly's lock? Stay tuned........

Ah yes, here is a nice recent gem from Wade along those lines that Stormy added to the MadHouse quote page:
You continue to unwittingly make my case. The gospel is about coming to Christ and becoming like him. "Truth" is but one of several means to achieving that end, though only in so far as those "truths" are relevant to that end. Not all "truths" will free us from chains of sin and spiritual death and free us to become like Christ. In fact, some "truths" may distract us from that end, and perhaps enslave us in counterproductive obsessions--as the case may be. This is a "truth" that you seem incapable of getting--which is, in part, why you and others like you haven't been called to the important task of constructing the curriculum for the Church. This is a position which needs to be filled by people who know what they are doing and know what the Church is all about.
Change a few words (e.g., substite "the Party" for "Christ), and it sounds almost like a direct quote from O'Brien to Winston in 1984. Scary stuff . . .

So is Sam the guy or is Charly the guy? Sam and Charly could be a gay couple, lesbo couple, or a hetero couple. By using unisex names, is there a subtle message about gay rights here?

One of the many things I admired about Joseph was that he possessed the gift of a skeleton key capable of opening many many locks.

As prophet, he held the master key.

Sam is the guy, Dark Helmet. Obviously they are using sexuality within the natural boundaries that the Lord has established. I didn't say two keys or two locks, after all.
