Former Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl grew up in a strict Mormon family in Washington, DC. When her older brother died in a car accident when she was just 7 years old, it was her family’s faith that pulled them through the tragedy. “I give the Mormon church a lot of credit for helping [us] do that,” she told Vanity Fair. Katherine’s conservative upbringing still affects certain choices today, but the star says she’s too selfish to fully devote herself to the church. “I haven’t been an actively practicing Mormon in years,” she revealed to the Daily Mail. “I satisfy my vices instead of fighting them. I love being a sinner.”
What a poor sucker she is. And yet, being church members helped her family through a terrible tragedy.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith
You wouldn’t think that the gun-toting, car-racing, wave-surfing Paul Walker was raised in a strict religious home, but the California native grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The action star has since stopped following certain guidelines of the faith, such as no drinking or premarital sex, but he hasn’t thrown his morals to the wayside. As he explained to USA Today: “I still hold myself accountable. I'm not the kind of guy who's taking advantage of my position. I could be sleeping with a different 18-year-old girl every day if I wanted to. But that's not my speed.” Paul now considers himself a nondenominational Christian.
What a wonderful christian. Has he read the Bible? Good to know that he doesn't sleep with all the 18 year olds who want his body. Good to be choosey. What a poor sucker.

These people would have been much better off being members in good standing. They could have been a good influence on young people. But...the way of the world is very attractive. However, as I said before to many here on this forum, the church does leave a foundation that is good and many incorporate that foundation in some aspects of their lives.

Does Katherine Heigl realize that she is not living her life in accordance with the wishes of an anonymous internet lurker with the screen name "why me"?
I bet she tosses and turns at night in mental conflict, pondering endlessly what actions she might make to be accepted by all the anonymous religious folk in the world and their nearly endless versions and concepts of God and his/her wishes, desires, commandments, laws, doctrines, creeds etc etc.
Good thing Mormonism exists or else what other faith system could ever offer comfort for life's travails?
