Wait! Mormon think is gone???
No, just his blog.

Is September the month set aside by the General Authorities for doing something disgraceful in the public view?

Hey, attention Internet Grasses working for the Church:
MormonThink
Mormonthink.com is a site produced largely by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who are interested in the historical accuracy of our church and how it is being taught to its members and portrayed in the media.
We invite scholarly debate by critics, true-believers and anyone interested in Mormon history.
There is a lot of misinformation on the LDS church that is presented by both critics and defenders of the faith - particularly on the Internet. We present both sides fairly and let the reader decide. Who are we?
Gordon B. Hinckley: "Well, we have nothing to hide. Our history is an open book. They may find what they are looking for, but the fact is the history of the church is clear and open and leads to faith and strength and virtues." ~ Dec. 25, 2005 interview with The Associated Press

I would have titled this "LDS Church Gets Played Like a Fiddle by Mormon Think"
I think Twede was out and came back to pick a fight. It was clear from his blog that he just recently started attending again and immediately started attempting to lead people out of the church.
The church has quite intentionally not been disciplining people in this political season, so he's calling their bluff. Knowing they will HAVE to ex him, he's looking for media coverage and increased interest in his website.
The media would LOVE a high profile excommunication to kick off the month of October. I don't have a dog in the hunt but I extend a slow clap for excellent execution.
I guess I read his blog differently. He stated If I recall correctly that he felt like he had no credibility not being an active Mormon, so he went back to provide a more current perspective. It's hard to say if he was attempting to lead people out of the church.
Either way, the church is really stupid for going after him. If he weren't telling the truth, no one would be tempted to leave.
"It doesn't seem fair, does it Norm--that I should have so much knowledge when there are people in the world that have to go to bed stupid every night." -- Clifford C. Clavin, USPS
"¡No contaban con mi astucia!" -- El Chapulin Colorado
The blog has gone down and RFM has erased all traces of any threads. Steve made a post on it that I nabbed before the threads went down. I'll email him to see if he wants me to keep it up on the MC. The guy might just want to duck out for a minute, who knows.
This situation reminded me of the following quote, which seems appropriate:
In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act. --George Orwell

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm pissed off nonetheless. I wonder who in the SCMC contacted the SP in Florida with the "dirt" on Dave. I read Dave's "Mormon Politics" paper and it all seemed accurate to me. Too bad the LDS Church still can't handle the truth about some of its darker deeds.
"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."
