First lie....
Joseph Smith and others practiced "Polygamy" in Illinois. He and others did not. They practiced the "Sealing Ordinance". When Joseph said he/they weren't practicing Polygamy, they weren't. Actual polygamy didn't start until Utah.
Second lie....
Polygamy was not illegal. This may have been a "belief" by some, etc., but it was not really a position of the Church. Thus, the anti creates a straw-man to then tear down.
-----
By the way..... To be clear, I've never said every "fact" anti-mormons use to degrade the Church is false, I've only said that their conclusions are for nearly every claim are, and that they use truth/fact to lie, by omitting important facts, truth, and logic.
In other words, the idea that "Polygamy was Illegal" is simply a non-issue. It's a well known fact.
We know there was a Priesthood ban.
We know Joseph was sealed to 3 women under 18.
We know there were some wrong statements in history by LDS leaders, false assumptions, etc.
So what? It's the rest you ignore, omit, etc. that makes you liars.
I "share" digital media.... It's illegal, but I don't at all believe it's morally wrong. A Library is not morally wrong, sharing with your friends is not morally wrong. Thus, sharing in the new digital age also can't be wrong. No loss, no crime. People who receive sharing wouldn't even close be "buying" nearly all of what they receive. Same for Library's.
We believe in honoring and sustaining the law..... But there is also a time and place.
Laws are not "Eternal Law". The Articles of Faith are only a GENERAL summary of our beliefs.
They don't address every nuance, every factor, etc.
Anti's try to make strawmen such as this to then tear down. That's lying.
