The media attention was unwanted either way, I'm sure, but I wonder if Scott shot himself in the foot on this one and unwittingly dealt yet another blow to Mopologetics. In my estimation, he likely violated the protocols of the SCMC in a major way. It's one thing to lurk in the shadows and feed intel to the Church's secret service, but it's another to go public in a national news source and boast, to take full credit for bringing down the enemy. I give it a 27% chance that had Scott not so hastily heaped glory upon himself in the news, that the proceeding would not have been cancelled.

In the book 1984, Big Brother gleans the evil deeds of the Oceania's citizens. For the Party's machinery of terror to be effective, it must work in mysterious ways. It must appear as if Big Brother sees all. The mechanisms must be quiet and efficient, with the end result of Big Brother glorified, and not the "rats". It's quite a blow to the system for an informer to jump in front of the camera and gloat and brag that he has scored a point against his adversary. Such actions make a mockery of the sacred, as if, this intricate web of totalitarian efficiency can be bent to the use of any nobody with an axe to grind. Not only does this rob Big Brother of his credit, but it contradicts in a rather blunt way the pretense of the Ministry of Love. How can a detractor be ushered into room 101 and told how much the brethren love him when the citizen responsible for his detainment is rejoicing over his demise?

It was bad enough to go public at all, but even worse to dwell on punishing and "putting a stop" to Twede, language that is incompatible with the supposed concern over the welfare of the perpetrator. A stronger move would have been to note regret over Twede's actions, and a profound love for a fellow church member who appeared to be losing his way. But Mopologists throb with such desire for revenge that they can't properly support the facade of the autocratic system they hope more than just about anyone will one day shut the mouths of detractors and to force the masses not to think. It's always two steps back for every step forward with these guys. One wonders if they can make themselves any less relevant.

Gadianton,

Excellent comment.

The Mopologists just don't get. I doubt they ever will.

As such, I humbly offer an apology for the poor choices that Scott Gordon has made in regards to snitching on David Twede. Snitching is not only harshly condemned in the Bible and Torah, but snitching on someone for behavior which is in no way innappropriate is simply evil and of the devil.

I am ashamed of Scott Gordon, both professionally and personally for his poor choice of actions. He should be held accountable.

I am very pleased that cooler heads prevailed and that the leadership of the Church put a stop to this madness.

The real tragedy is that Scott Gordon's inappropriate behavior has caused David Twede and his family much stress and anxiety.

I think that if any disciplinary council needs to be held, it should be for Scott Gordon. Not only has he repeatedly lied and intentionally mislead in various presentations, but he has born false witness against David Twede. He is a very bad example of how LDS should act and treat one another.

All I can say is that it is a good thing Scott Gordon is not a member of my Ward or he would be facing a disciplinary council.

Up to this point, I was willing to believe your claims that you are a Bishop. Now, I seriously question your assertion.

A Bishop is called as a Judge in Israel, but he understands that his jurisdiction is to his own congregation. Yet, you choose to judge and convict Scott Gordon, a man outside your Ward. A Bishop understands the chain of authority and would defer to the man's own church leaders who have jurisdiction over him. Likewise, A Bishop would not take on himself some supposed right to speak for the church in the form of a public apology.

A Bishop is endowed with the gift of Discernment. Have you even looked at Twede's website? Have you read his 'conclusions' section? If you have, I do not know how a Bishop, who has the gift of discernment, could ever miss Twede's clearly stated intents and purposes. And once again, a Bishop would defer to the man's own church leaders who have jurisdiction over him to determine if a court was necessary.

A Bishop would not identify what Scott Gordon did as 'snitching'. That was a big red flag. Your anger at his own Bishop's plan, calling it 'madness' to hold a court is another red flag. Heck, your public apology is filled with 'red flags' that you are not what you claim to be.

I would just advise posters on this message board to be careful of believing this poster's claims.

Do you think that JSJr and Hyrum Smith ordered the Nauvoo city marshal to pie the type at the Nauvoo Expositor out of love for William Law?

Hello Alter,

I don't suppose I could respectfully ask you to please post your personal attacks in the Telestial?

I would really be interested in your thoughts on Scott Gordon's actions and the OP.

Thanks in advance,

Everybody Wang Chung

Pahoran, if your head wasn't so far up Cordons backside you would be able.to see his misrepresentations. He gave gasped witness during his presentation at UVU - he eventually issued a piss poor statement that he had been up late, that he mislabled a slide etc. He also gave false statements to sltribe claiming Mormons lost their jobs for donating or.supporting prop 8 yet he has no evidence of such.

Gordon, is no better than those he accuses, he makes statements without having the decency to verify the truth.

Thank you, Bishop. If more Church leaders were like you, perhaps something good could be salvaged from the Church.

Such a wonderful treat of a thread to read how various pious Mormons like Scott are wasting their lives not only defending the indefensible, but being a Mormon snitch.

Icing on this yummy cake would be one of the female posters here to please volunteer for Bishop Everybody Wang Chung to give a personal interview. *cough* and ask how often she touches herself. Like frosting, may I request extra details please?

First off, What does this obnoxious remark have to do with the discussion?

Polygamy, I guess I was wrong in thinking you had backed off a bit on the misogyny and sexist comments here. Or, do you have a double standard? Do you only save the rude sexist remarks for the LDS females who happen to annoy you with their opinions?

For those who wonder why LDS don't want to participate here? This is why.

And the next time someone complains about Mormon Apologists being sexist, someone can pull up this comment so the posters can decide who's more offensive to women.
