Yeah, that Jesus. He is pretty snobby when it comes to this things. He was a carpenter, afterall.

Way back when the Jordan River Temple was built, a general authority was speaking about this same topic, "nothing is too good for the Lord." He mentioned that a single table in the temple cost $80,000. I was put off by it, but he seemed quite proud of it.

What about the people who wear wrinkled, stained temple robes? I saw alot of that when I went to the temple. Somehow I don't think the Lord was any more bothered by that than those people would have been to see a single small imperfection in one of the pieces of a stained glass window.
Anyway, it just seems like such an un-necessary waste to me. It really bothered me, but I didn't say anything to anyone in my family. Didn't want to start an argument.

I'm very offended by the thought of an $80,000 table anywhere. Especially in a temple built by tithing dollars.

What's the diff between, say, a $3,000 table and a $80,000?
Neither would be found in my house.
I mean, seriously, the maker/brand would be the only difference. Jesus Christ.
Lemme guess, it was built by a relative of a GA...

And that was some 30 years ago. What would that table cost today?

Seriously, compared to the waste at the Mall of the Lord, I don't see much to complain about in strict standards for the construction of a temple. At the very least the temple is central to the missions of the Church, whereas trafficking in merchandise seems much less so.

Still curious. How does an imperfect man define perfection?

As best he or she is able, and that is the point. You give the best you can to the Deity. No mortal knows what true perfection is, so they come as close to they can in making a divine offering.

I've been in temples where there is obvious shoddy construction, so maybe it just depends on the guy doing the inspection.
