The cool thing about being a GA is you can pull unsubstantiated facts out of your butt and never be called on the carpet by the members. In fact the members will parrot your fake facts ad-nauseum until it is seared into their brains as truth.
Then, when an outsider calls the GA out on the bogus facts providing real facts as evidence, the GA will hide within the confines of the COB offering silence while the PR department spins away the damage, and the body of members calls the whistle blower a liar, communist, or anti Mormon. Years later when overwhelming evidence makes it impossible to prove the bogus facts, the members will just chalk it up to the GA speaking as a man. They will then magically forget that they once stood behind the GA and the bogus facts.

In our system of Church government, evil speaking and criticism of leaders by members is always negative. Whether the criticism is true or not, as Elder George F. Richards explained, it tends to impair the leaders’ influence and usefulness, thus working against the Lord and his cause.Dallin H. It is quite another thing to criticize or depreciate a person for the performance of an office to which he or she has been called of God. It does not matter that the criticism is true.

You better get with the program, Drifting. Evil speaking of the lord's annointed will get you in some serious sh*t.
So, all you haters, who be hatin' on those people who knew that some bishop or other was sexually molesting some kid, and who said nothing... they were simply doing what the lord commanded.
A couple of points to clarify my position...
I am with the program, just not with THE program.
I am evil speaking of them as members of the board of the Corporation of The president, which Oaks states is perfectly okay.
