Radio, live transmission.
Radio, live transmission.

Listen to the silence, let it ring on.
Eyes, dark grey lenses frightened of the sun.
We would have a fine time living in the night,
Left to blind destruction,
Waiting for our sight.

And we would go on as though nothing was wrong.
And hide from these days we remained all alone.
Staying in the same place, just staying out the time.
Touching from a distance,
Further all the time.

Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.

Well I could call out when the going gets tough.
The things that we've learnt are no longer enough.
No language, just sound, that's all we need know, to synchronise
love to the beat of the show.

And we could dance.

Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.
Dance, dance, dance, dance, dance, to the radio.

You know what I found works the best with the Mishies? You gotta go deeper than Mormonsim, Christianity, or whatever. Strike at the heart of the matter which is fear of death, our temporary state, one life is all we have, stuff like that...

They eat that crap up. And it's a good thing. It gets them thinking. It breaks the mold in which they're trying to force themselves.

Serve them herb tea, and offer a platter of crackers and cheese and sausage with other lunchmeats. Something with caffeine would be best for you, since you need to be on your toes. Be nice and courteous, change the subject whenever irritation on either side begins to show. As they leave, remind them that it is not healthy to eat a lot of meat in the summertime, especially when refrigeration is not available.

Of course, I would politely decline any overture, telling them that they really don't want to hear what I have to tell them.

First, I am sorry to learn that you have been shunned.

Although I have no specific advice for your coming visit, I did want to share my personal struggles when I have opened my door and found the young and unseasoned faces of these LDS missionaries.

This has happened to me about 6 times in the last several years.

Each time I have opened the door (and I still struggle with this on many levels) I have simply and only invited them in, feed them, shared a few smiles with them, and then found a way to see them off and on their way.

The struggles I face are many and deeply layered, a mere few are:

I am a Christian who believes in the Bible.
They are a long way from home/family/support.
They are very young.

Anyway, all I can say is that I honestly struggle, a lot, when I answer the door.

Peace,
Ceeboo

I should have added, the last time I offered my thoughts about my LDS missionary experiences on these boards, I received a very long and very personal lecture (via email) by a rather popular LDS aplogist.

It was bizarre!

Ha!

This, and maybe a copy of the Nauvoo Expositor or Stick of Joseph as they go out the door.

It was a personal attack and off topic so I moved it here. http://mormondiscussions.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=27164

C'mon, man. It was gentle!

I like Ceeboo. His god is a murderer, which seems odd. But Ceeboo is great! by the way, since this post is off-topic it should be moved, too.

If he is shunned why are the missionaries visiting? Also, with his attitude toward Mormons and Mormonism, would you want to visit him if you were a Mormon?

Absolutely!

Another example of how little you understand Mormons and Mormonism.

It's pretty clear you judge how you think faithful Mormons should act by internet Mormon behavior. It is one of the reasons you see so much criticism by ex Mormons on how many internet Mormons behave. The difference is night and day and if you attended a LDS Church with regularity you would know this.

I see. You obviously don't understand the new age of Mormonism: don't bother openly hostile exmormons who may claim that you are harassing them. If Ldst is as hostile in person as he is on the internet, the word has gotten around in the ward. Avoid him because he is not very welcoming.
