With Consig, it is always from the heart, religion should move the soul not empty the pocket book.

(I think Consiglieri would be a lot more comfortable with Joseph Smith, faults and all, than with Thomas Monson.)
"Any over-ritualized religion since the dawn of time can make its priests say yes, we know, it is rotten, and hard luck, but just do as we say, keep at the ritual, stick it out, give us your money and you'll end up with the angels in heaven for evermore."

Thanks for the kind words about my family, DrW.

If it makes you feel any better, I pretty much always have a hard time figuring out where I am coming from, or even where I am going, for that matter.

All I know is I am having an absolute blast on the journey.

I think Fence Sitter has figured me out pretty good, though, especially the part about Smith over Monson.

I am reading a book I got for Christmas from my wife called "Falling in Love with Joseph Smith," which I brought to her attention after listening to a podcast interview of the author.

The author (who worked heavily on the PBS special, "the Mormons"), also chooses Joseph Smith over Thomas Monson, and basically says the shift over time from the one to the other figured in her decision to not join the LDS Church.

Go figure.

All the Best!
