Re: Sandra Tanner Knows Nothing About Religion per Sunstone
I chose one day for Sunstone and went Friday. I obviously made the wrong choice.

Sandra Tanner opted to show Joseph Smith plagiarized from other scriptures. All she did was prove that she knows nothing about Christ and his gospel. The revelations of Jesus are all from before the foundation of the world as kept in his own bosom to be revealed at various times to various prophets from the beginning of the world to the end thereof.
"four divergent views of the Book of Mormon were presented"
NL, what were the other three views presented?

Re: Sandra Tanner Knows Nothing About Religion per Sunstone
Sandra Tanner argued "nineteenth-century plagiarism," Brant Gardner "inspired history," David Bokovoy "inspired story," and Mark Thomas "great literature." Mark's was the standout presentation: he read portions of the Book of Mormon in the folksy Vermont accent and frontier sermon cadence in which Joseph Smith would have dictated them. The audio will eventually be available for download on Sunstone's website.
I plan to turn "Four Views" into a regular Sunstone series. I also organized and moderated a Friday panel titled, "Does the LDS Church Do More Harm or More Good?" that roughly followed the same "Four Views" format. That panel was also quite excellent, with Ryan Cragun arguing vigorously for harm, Stephen Cranney making an equally strong argument for good, and John Dehlin and Mica McGriggs coming down somewhere in the middle. (Mica more on the good side, John more on the harm side.)

I asked Sandra if she sees the date 1830 and she denied being able to see it. I doubt she even looked at the picture for a half a second. I called her not credible and she called me not credible which got lots of laughs from the overflow crowd. But many earnest folks came to me and inquired and witnessed the truth of it for themselves.
All the surrounding rocks with layers of striations are to represent the piles of engraved plates Mormon was working with.
And people think gold plates, seer stones, angels with swords demanding polygamy, etc., are crazy.

Nightlion, I can actually see what you are seeing. I just don't believe it.

I am wondering why the Salt Lake Tribune did not cover the Sunstone Symposium? Did Chris Smith expand on his view's from last year's Joseph Smith topic?
Has any Book of Mormon evidence been discovered in the Rorschach inkblots?

Thanks for doing this. I liked the presentation last year. I look forward to hearing the audio of this year's edition when it comes out.

Wait a second, IHAQ. I think we can learn something important here. We have, according to Nightlion, a God who thought it reasonable to spend millions of years creating geological formations that only one person would recognize and feel inspired by. So now we have established that the Master of the Universe, the First Cause, the Supreme Being, is a comedian. Or a nut.
Actually the authentic message was present on a hillside in Gondwanaland and has since been erased but since no conscious entities were there to observe it, it never really happened, or something like that. I must consult the philosophers.

Sandra is a friend of mine. She's a kind, caring person with a great sense of humor. Your crappy little rant shows what a small, bitter person you are.
