Refineries in N. SL, large quarries, highways intersecting the city, the inversion, little regulation responding to ground realities, the inland port, and so on showed us that people in the valley have no intention to protect the very environment they’re living in.

Hey, how are we getting … electricity to the rural parts of Utah now?
TFW Binger has apparently never noticed power lines.

Right. Power lines. That's right. Remind me again where they start, if you have a minute.

TFW Binger doesn’t know how power grids work. :(

Here’s something for you to peruse:

The refineries, quarries, highways and inversion were all there before I was born.
How old are you?

As far back as the late 1800’s, Salt Lake City was aware of air quality issues, and efforts were begun to mitigate them.

This presentation (link below) from the Utah Division of State History lays out the story behind efforts to identify and tackle air quality causes and issues, since before the start of the last century. It’s a bit slow to get going - you could skip the first 5 minutes, then listen at 1.5x speed without missing a beat - but you might be surprised at how long this mess has been getting poked at.

Did you think that all power and power lines all come from one spot in SLC, or something?

No. I didn't think that.

As the man said: only when the last tree has been cut down, the last fish been caught, and the last stream poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.
And all the right-wingers buying physical gold as endorsed by Ben Shapiro will realize they can't eat gold either.

Kind of funny. Visiting with an Indian friend of mine in CA, and his neighbor is full-blown QAnon. He was bragging about his crossbow and asking what my (very liberal) friend was going to eat when society breaks down. My friend said, "I have fruit trees". The guy's like, "Oh yeah good point." ha. Yeah, I take back about 20 pounds of fruit every time I visit, and Q guy gets all he wants on a daily basis. (for years though, he complained about the trees, apparently, until they began to produce. Right-wingers are really sensitive about things like, their property line and so on."
Nothing like a good end-of-world scare to find out who your craziest friends are. One friend of mine, a former SEAL, who I thought was a supremely logical person, bought desert land in Nevada in 1999 and built himself a Y2K survival bunker. By Christmas, he had his SUV loaded in the garage, with provisions, guns, ammo and enough gas cans roped on top to make the ~600 mile drive. He and his wife spent New Year's eve in the garage, watching the countdowns on every time zone. Next day, laughed it all off.

I dunno which is funnier, Binger's ignorance or Moksha's brilliance.
