Don't give him any ideas, his next talk may be here at the IAOWD:

So, that was clever.

Dan,

Trim your beard and get a haircut. You’re looking a bit looney. For real. Age yourself well. The haute homeless derelicte look is so 2001.

Dan has always been a little slovenly and has never had the best hygiene/grooming habits.

Many years ago, I relayed an experience being in the same bathroom with DCP, and after doing his business, didn’t bother to wash his hands. Pretty gross.

I found an abstract of the address:
The prominent Caltech theoretical physicist Sean Carroll declares that the laws of physics that underlie everyday life are now completely known, and that they rule out the existence of spirits or non-embodied minds. His is a fundamental and serious challenge to a literal understanding of out-of-body experiences. This presentation will examine his assertion, to see whether his confidence is justified.

Correct.
When it comes to everyday phenomena that are incompletely understood, from consciousness to photosynthesis, there is every reason to believe that an ultimate explanation will be obtained within the framework of the underlying laws we know, not from stepping outside that framework. An impressive accomplishment.

On a visit to my cousin and her husband she looked at me and said "Who are you" Her memory was going. LDS believe the soul is "refined matter" Does her spirit leave her body to go to the spirit world in tact and when I see her does she remembers me?

Apologists will say the antenna is malfunctioning . And in some of the more bizarre cases some have said memories will be removed from people who have apostate families. That way Mormon heaven is preserved. An antenna along the lines of dowsing, patriarchal blessings, and faith healing. Sometimes those antennas are sending the wrong electron up the wrong rod.

he seriously needs some grooming help. Don't they have places for that in Utah? My boys both have beards but they are assiduous in keeping them well groomed and they look stunning. they would NEVER let their facial hair look so sloppy and unkempt. and even if you're mostly bald, you still need to groom what's left. Is he not well? is personal hygiene not a thing for retired BYU profs?
He couldn't have a beard as a BYU prof and so he is living it up now .... good for him.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

In my area, for eight bucks he could live it up AND improve his personal hygiene.
