In LDS theology, I believe what she did counts as spiritual murder. Wouldn’t it? Is there a doctrine for this, damning someone’s soul by lying? I guess this is where the books in heaven would Trump the books on earth, but what consequence for her willingness to murder your soul in service of her personal vanity? Isn’t that basically the same thing as physical murder?
That’s the great irony. She takes it so seriously as to forge Marcus’ signature to guarantee something in the afterlife. But not so seriously to imagine the consequences to Marcus of doing that in the same afterlife…
If she believes her actions to secure her first-wife status will have validity in the afterlife, then she is forced to believe this same actions will exclude her from having first-wife status in the afterlife. You cannot honestly look at church doctrine with one eye closed.

If it merits coverage in the handbook then it’s not rare.
I just can't imagine so many LDS women being ok with a very large possibility that they will be sharing their spouse with a complete stranger in the afterlife.
This is one of the main themes in Carol Lynn Pearson's "The Ghost of Eternal Polygamy". A very brutal book.

If you’re a temple worthy widower, who was sealed to a deceased spouse, and you remarry to a temple worth second wife, I think the chances of a temple sealing approach 100%. If not expressly considered and accepted, I think the theological implications of afterlife polygamy are either ignored or are a “shelf” item.
Or not. After i left the lds church and divorced my lds husband, he remarried. Because i didn't remove my records his new wife became his "second" wife.

After maybe 30 years out of the lds church, someone forged my signature on a request to have my records removed. After investigating a bit, i have come to the conclusion that the forgery was the act of my ex's "second wife" who could not bear tbe thought of a future eternity where she would never be the "first wife." Getting my records removed overturned the sealing and secured her first wife spot.
My ex-wife’s Bishop called me out of the blue one day to get my permission for a temple divorce so she could marry her then Mormon husband. He caught me at a bad time because she was causing me massive grief with regard to our custody arrangement. I declined the invite based solely on a desire to stick it to her - long story short she forged some docs, submitted them to a Utah court, and secured sole custody. It cost me $20k and many sleepless nights to get my kids back after that stunt.

The Bishop went ahead and processed the divorce (like, why even call me?).

damned Mormons.

How many men do you guys know in today’s church who are sealed to multiple wives? Is this a common practice among all LDS widowers who remarry, or is it mainly practiced among the leadership of the LDS church?

Do LDS widowers and widows commonly marry civilly after their spouses die, and forgo sealing so that they won’t be practicing polygamy in the afterlife?

The LDS church tries its best to hide the fact that all of this still goes on, so there’s not a ton of information about the LDS’s modern continuing practice of spiritual wifery.
My grandfather is sealed to three women. THe second is my grandmother. THe third outlived him. I had a friend who died a few years ago. He was sealed to his first and second wife. THis seems quite common.

All of this is irrelevant as Christ clearly teaches in the Book of Matthew that not only is there no such thing as eternal marriage, there's no marriage in heaven at all as we are all going to be 'as the angels in heaven'. It's amazing how much crap Joe Smith made up that Christ never taught which was 'restored' that is endorsed and practiced by members of the 'church'. Any man espousing polygamy doesn't deserve to be with any woman. The practice is abhorrent, disgusting, lustful and insensitive to women, period, and anyone who believes in it should be ashamed of themselves!!

If I recall correctly, I was taught to interpret Matthew as saying that new marriages cannot be performed in heaven, rather than (as you are suggesting) that earthly marriages will be dissolved.

He was not only saying that no new marriages are performed in heaven but that there is no marriage in heaven at all. He was asked a question by the Pharisees in an attempt to try and trick him when they asked about a woman who had been married 7 times to 7 different brothers and whose wife she would be in the next life and Christ's response was that she would not 'belong' to any of them because we will all be as the angels in heaven, in other words, no marriages will exist. Doesn't really matter though because if a husband and wife still want to be together on the other side, they can choose to be.
