I have watched only 2 of his video posts. Both were remarkably easy to follow, and surprisingly contrary to the conventional chapel wisdom about homosexuality.

One has to wonder why McClellan would keep such talents at BYU. I think inevitably he will step on the wrong person's pet belief and be made unwelcome. Much about Dan's approach to scripture reminds me of Bokovoy circa 2008.
Dr. Moore,

Watch this one until the end. This will definitely put him at odds with the Mopolgists.

Good one. Yeah, exactly. Drawing lines with facts & logic in front of what the brethren say, is like probing a nuke with a chainsaw. It's just a matter of time before the wrong person makes McClellan a target. At least he would go out with his academic integrity in tact, and a following. Would that be enough to find a seat at a reputable institution? I'd sure hope so.

With the new Ecclesiastical Clearance Office up and running at the BYUs, I imagine that it's already received a lengthy dossier on McClellan.

DCP and Ralph Hancock may feel vindicated when another one of their heterodox enemies feels the heat or gets the sack. But it would be a blow to the already shaky ground upon which academic and political diversity finds itself throughout the CES.

Wishing the best for Mak...

How long until
- Dan vs Dan, or the battle of Dans, is a thing?
- A new blog, “Makin Bakin” pops up in the style of Neville Neville land?

Frankly, it can't happen soon enough!

I've been following Dan on Tik Tok ever since I first got on that platform. I find him to be an extremely intelligent, articulate poster with a unique ability to cut through the din of biblical disinformation and present fact based answers and solutions. What I can't understand is how he reconciles his belief in Mormonism given his nuanced approach to biblical studies.

I don't know if his employment by the church factors in or not but he can't hold to a orthodox Mormon world view. I've heard him say that he will not engage in any debates on Mormonism on his Tik Tok platform.

Admittedly I'm not following his reasoning there. I don't think he specified which passage he's talking about. I think Paul's comment in 1 Cor. But Paul has a seemingly more explicit one in Romans, that doesn't use that same greek term. I don't know really, 'cause I don't care that much. But I've read a few complaints about the type of reasoning he's using. The Bible stinks as a tool for moral codes. That should be a more prominent goal, as I see it. But, i suppose, if he is able to successfully argue away some religious bigotry I should just let him have at it.
