Shulem, keep challenging Dr. Gee to a cage match on the Book of Abraham. Who knows, under the right atmospheric and gravitational conditions he might agree.
In the meantime, thanks to all you and Kerry do to restore normalcy to the lives of the Saints by giving them accurate information regardless of not being faith-promoting through falsity.

Thank you for your continued confidence in my work and for following along. This has certainly afforded you the opportunity and ability to really understand the controversies from my perspective which is a cut above the rest. I am the greatest Book of Abraham critic alive today.
Imagine John Gee and me having a discussion on Anubis in Facsimile No. 3. Just imagine that! The poor guy would whither and die in making any attempt to justify Smith's presentation of the character within that vignette. Whatever or however Gee responds to my points would be met with a ton of bricks until he was completely buried and unable to respond. He would simply have to leave the stage and walk off in shame.
But that's not going to happen. Gee and I are from two separate universes and our paths are not likely to meet.

You are so Goddamn right about that!
I wish that RFM had consulted me before he had his interview with Ritner. I can't blame Dehlin at all because he's not up to snuff on Book of Abraham stuff as RFM is but RFM really dropped the ball in not reaching out to me and asking for some pointers on how to do the interview and what to ask and what not to ask. He really blew it. But oh well. Just letting everyone know what I think.
Unfortunately, a golden opportunity went bronze, at best, silver.

It's all good, the information comes out in ways we all eventually see and grasp, that's the good thing.Shulem wrote: ↑Sat Feb 11, 2023 6:12 pm

I hope that I don't come across as disgruntled or overly critical. I don't mean too. The three part podcast was amazing and overall both Dehlin and RFM did a great job. They covered the material pretty good. All I'm saying is there are some questions and points that could have been raised during the podcast that would have given Ritner the opportunity to expound on them.
Anyway, it's all good. No worries.
PS. I'm glad you're paying attention to my chronology thread in Celestial. It really is the final nail in the coffin and destroys the Book of Abraham from the get-go. Have you ever wondered why Gee and apologists don't talk about it? Have you ever wondered why there is no apologetics to justify the 3000 vs. 2300?
It's the f'ing bomb, baby. They have avoided it all these years but here I am now talking about it. That has to be scary. There are a lot of traditional or conservative members of the church that would find it quite disturbing.
