This begs the question for followers of pop culture, will the baddies on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives get excommunicated? Can a Mormon publicly confess to swinging, drinking, and drugging keep their membership over someone decent like Nemo the Ex-Mormon?

- Doc
Depends on the Bishop. I had a Bishop that would never do anything when you confessed to pre-marital sex. It was a singles ward and his idea was that he didn't want to stifle church attendance. He also was one of those liberal Mormons that won a restaurant back in the day at the Beta Theta Phi poker table. The dude was awesome.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

And yet another tiny smudge is smoothed off the echo chamber wall.

In 2023, he and two other Latter-day Saints, Sara Delaney and Jane Christie, successfully campaigned for a policy requiring background checks for any church volunteers in the United Kingdom who work with children or vulnerable adults.
It says something about the Church that it took a member they’ve now excommunicated for criticising Church Leaders, to coerce those Church Leaders in to implementing something they should have done years and years and years before.

Why do Church Leaders have to be dragged kicking and screaming into doing the right thing? They never lead, they only sulkily trail behind.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Once again we see that LDS apostles preach all sorts of moral expectation to members, but will not tolerate being held to any sort of accountability by the same.

Hypocrite's Pulpit, by Gemini

He speaks of sin and righteousness,
A moral compass, pure and bright.
Yet, when his own flaws come to light,
He hides behind his holy might.

And should you dare to call him out,
He'll cast you from his sacred ground,
A hypocrite, without a doubt,
His kingdom built on falsehood's mound.

Here are some possible choices for the answer:
(a) Mormon "God" is amoral
(b) Mormon Church leaders are just a bunch of old men, out of touch with humanity developing morals
(c) Dallin Oaks' ego is so fragile he wants silence by the LDS even when he is or "the Brethren" are wrong

According to his video it was for trying to lead members away from the church. They had private communications from someone that weren't discussed. Sounds like he got shanked in the back by someone he thought was a friend.

If you go to the livestream they have the letter up to read starting around 20 mins.
