I hate Beavis and Butthead.

I'm not sure what you mean. I think it's obvious that you missed how Mike Judge used his creations to mock and critique the excesses of popular culture itself (which is why B & B's comments on music videos were always dead on). I can only hope you don't throw away Melville in your haste. I would think you would find much of value in the work of those 19thC American masters like Melville, Whitman, Hawthorne, Emerson and Thoreau. I am disappointed you did not heed my call to realize Ishmael's vision. "Come; let us squeeze hands all round; nay, let us all squeeze ourselves into each other; let us squeeze ourselves universally into the very milk and sperm of kindness," is one of the most celestial moments in all literature...

I've mentioned this before. And I certainly wouldn't want you to leave the board over it, but must you talk in archaic English?

It never really sounds biblical. Just a little pretentious. I never get passed the language to hear your point.

You mean you just can't or wont hear the word, abomination? I am not trilling the thees and thous am I?

Not at all. I'm happy to "hear the word". It's "unto an abomination" that's putting me off a little. Why not just say "their hypocrisy is arrogant" or "the arrogance of their hypocrisy is an abomination"? American English. No affectation. Much more powerful and less distracting.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Okay, I see what you mean. I will try an watch it. I am convicted then of affectation and pretentiousness. What else?

Good catch. Wow! I got to let that settle in.

You just do not know the mechanics of repentance. I convict myself.

I could say that I smote upon my breast and was abased but apparently no, I should not say thusly.

Nightlion and others who might consider my username/avatar offensive, you really should read what Blixa said above again.

Beavis and Butt-head was very similar to South Park in having many cultural sub-texts beneath its potty humor. I am paying a tribute to that rather than attempting to mock with my username.

Would-be censors should also consider that there are many aspects of your own beliefs and expressions on this forum including but not limited to:
  1. Belief that Jesus is the brother of Satan
  2. Belief that Satan is a child of God
  3. Belief that all humans are siblings of Satan
  4. Belief that everyone of this "dispensation" will be judged by Joseph Smith in order to get into heaven
  5. Baptism for the dead of Holocaust victims
  6. Electroshock treatment administered by BYU to gays to help "cure" them
  7. The unambiguous racist traditions within Mormonism that still have never been apologized for
  8. Excluding people from the weddings of their own children and extended families
  9. The arrogant assumption that the LDS leadership somehow represents God on this earth to the exclusion of all other faiths.
  10. The missionary program which is a full-time sales force designed to draw people away from their current faiths and families

And finally, as pointed out previously on this thread by Quasimodo, Nightlion's claim to be a true prophet of God and his condemnation of the LDS church and its leadership is extremely offensive to people who believe the Mormon church will never lead them astray.

LOL!

May I suggest to those who chimed in on behalf of Nightlion, that his novelty in your eyes is inversely proportional to the sum of the number of his followers plus one. Since after 40 years, he has no converts, it's all good. But the day someone registers on this forum (not sending out hints or anything for a troll to rise up) as a sincere believer of Nightlion consecrating their time, money; giving up family relations and generally that whole New Testament thing about dropping out of life to follow Him, the Novelty level is going to plummet quickly.
