why me wrote:My point was simple: if someone wants to know, they can find out. It is not a secret. That was my point about the local church. What they do with the money was not my concern. However, I will check today with a friend of mine who used to be in the bishopric about it.
I was a bishop Whyme. And if someone would have asked my how much tithing and fast offering we took in, as well as paid out for assisitance as far as fast offering goes I would have told them. Plus our mini budget was not a secret. But you used the ward finances as an example of how money issues and details are open in the LDS church and my point is the information is useless as far as understanding what the LDS church doesn with its money. Then LDS church is extremely secretive about this. Nobody knows what they do with the money they get other than those who handle it. LDS Faqs crows that no tithing money was used for the mall. How does he know? Because Gordon Hinckley said so? And if tithing was not used so what? Money is fungible. And all income from the church was ultimately from donations from members. So where the money for the mall is a moot point. The real issue is whether the Church that claims to be Jesus one and only true church ought to be pouring billions into a mall in downtown SLC.

I think that we had a couple of catholics on this thread relating how their local church is open about finances. My point was to show that on a local level, the LDS church is not so secret.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

Nice dodge at trying to drag things off topic. But hey, the Catholic Church, including the Vatican is a lot more open about finances than Mormon central.
You just don't like getting busted out again for showing your bias.....LOL
Catholics should not have a holier than thou attitude when they discuss other churches in a very negative way. Such is the problem on the catholic taliban site when catholics and exmormon catholics discuss the Mormon church.

And the local LDS churches have something on line where anyone can look at it like this from the San Francisco diocese. Where is the information from the LDS churches please. Every diocese that I've googled has something similar, the LDS church nothing.

Local LDS churches can't put that sort of report online, because they don't have access to the information either.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
Now, why me, can you post comparable links for the Mormon church?
To be honest, I really don't care about this issue at all.
Which is why you continue to post on this thread.
"And the human knew the source of life, the woman of him, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, 'I have procreated a man with Yahweh.'" Gen. 4:1, interior quote translated by D. Bokovoy.

Are you talking about me? I never said I was Catholic.
What I did say, and continue to say is that you are an anti-Catholic hypocrite.
Again, why are you trying to drag this off topic and talk about another site? Is it because they busted you out too?
Do you think "Catholic taliban" is a term of endearment, or a respectful way to talk about someone?
