True. All you know is my persona that I portray on this board. And I've explained multiple times what I'm about when I'm posting here.candygal wrote:I am having an angry day and taking it out on all the boards.
Sorry to hear you're having a bad day. Really. But that doesn't excuse random acts of non-kindness.candygal wrote:I just have so much suicide in my family..that I can't even take the word without reliving and trying to understand all the whys. Three months ago, my sister's grand daughter hung herself ..19 years old...
That is sad. And unfortunate. We had young person about the same age in my extended family take his life a few years ago due to inappropriate local church leader intervention into his life. I will let it go at that. I was pissed off at the time and still am. I grew up with his mom when we were kids. She and her husband were devastated. They no longer attend/belong to the church. An all around sad and unfortunate situation.candygal wrote:..and it sounded like you took things so lightly.
I think I was stating things as I see them 'on the ground'. I can't hide away what may be the reality.candygal wrote:Please don't judge the rest of the board on my bad judgement today.
I've conversed with some very nice and civil folks on this board. I would not judge those folks by your actions or the actions of others that I have failed to have positive/neutral/civil interaction with. I know who is who.
Anyway, I hope things work out for you and tomorrow is a better day!

All you need is a few fedoras and some cigarette smoke and you'd have a fine HUAC hearing.

Re: Leaked videos of meetings with the Q15
Candygal, you have no reason to apologixe. Heres what mg said:
What is the rock and the hard place? Why would pple be 'torn' in mourning suicide? You are new to mg's shenanigans. You expressed dismay at what he said, so he quickly pretended to saysomething different and then he played on your feelings to guilt you into apologizing. Look back at his original statement. You had a legitimate reason to be dismayed at mg's insensitive words, as did everyone else who expressed such.
That's utter nonsense. Your 'reality' is an imaginary god who says being gay is a sin if you express it. Ridiculous. You owe candygal an apology.
No matter which angle you look at the gay teen suicide issue from, it is sad and unfortunate. I think that Elder Oaks and Packer...when he was alive...were and are caught between a rock and a hard place. My guess is that they mourn with those that mourn but are torn knowing that they are under obligation

The rest of what I said was cut off...

My guess is that they mourn with those that mourn but are torn knowing that they are under obligation...to the Almighty as far as they are concerned...to put 'one man and one woman' out in front as the 'God ordained' teachings/practice in regards to the covenant of marriage.
I don't envy them. They are in a place where I definitely would not want to be.
I am not seeing ONE thing that I said that was somehow inappropriate.

Thank you for your support Lemmie.
I really didn't like what MG said..I don't know everyone's personality here yet ..my apology was for getting personal and calling him a name. That isn't really my style. Suicide is a topic that I can't wrap my head around..especially when on is so flippant about it. Hopefully, I will get to better understand the people here and use some restraint. Thank you Lemmie!!

I have seen very little from Oaks or Packer that would suggest to me that they feel/felt (latter to the deceased Packer) torn about this issue. What I have seen from both leads me and many other people to suspect that they feel righteously indignant about homosexuality, and are convicted of it being a sin, and form of apostacy. And they feel that it behooves them and the Church to take whatever legal steps they can to curb this tide of sin in the world. That is what I see in their words and actions. Is there a desire to be more diplomatic publicly? Sure. But Oaks is the guy who counseled parents not to host their children's same-sex partners on the grounds that it was not consistent with their LDS values. In other words, he demeaned loving partnerships to the level of smoking pot in your parents' house. Packer's vile teachings on sex and gender have a well-known history.
So, I think your statement about being torn is stupid. Are they sufficiently human to be sad about those who have wandered from the fold? OK, I can buy that. They are sad when people suffer because their idea of God's ways conflict with the world and that tension causes grief. And that about sums up their view. But, they seem to be incapable of grappling with the fact that Iron Age scriptures and Victorian pseudo-science mixed thoughtlessly with bad Biblical interpretation do not necessarily add up to the word and will of God. And, yes, I would go so far as to say that they are actually incapable of putting such a possibility together.

Lemmie,
Is there a particular reason you didn't cut and paste everything I said in context?

Re: Leaked videos of meetings with the Q15
My comment was about the 'they are torn' part, but if you're concerned, since my comment you've now shown the whole quote twice and kish quoted you, showing it a third time.
