Have you no shame Fibber? That’s some great missionary work.

Of all all subjects to contemplate it has been found that one overrides all the rest. It is, wait for it...
The character of mg!!!
Who would have imagined this would be of such preeminant importance?
When badgering by many he can loose his cool. Let's call him more names. He will struggle to react.
For those whose interest can find no subject there is MG to save the day. 55 threads devoted to, wait for it... MG!! I am sure there could be another.
And another.
And another.

Re: Mudslide slams into Provo LDS church
I would have absolutely no qualms about it if it just stopped. For one thing, my posts could be more interesting TO ME and others (hopefully) if I could interact with others without the constant backbiting and fighting over past grudges and misunderstandings. Honestly, I think Jesus would be happy if all of the dumb stuff that's going on would just stop. I would love it if I didn't think I was being followed around by some folks simply to try and trip me up or throw mud. It doesn't have to be that way. I can do better. Others can do better.huckelberry wrote: ↑Wed Sep 03, 2025 5:44 amOf all all subjects to contemplate it has been found that one overrides all the rest. It is, wait for it...

I think I know where you're going with this, but actually I think I would take issue with that. We need to remember and look at the past. For many different reasons. Looking at the past helps us understand the present for one thing.

Anyway.......back to the topic:
It sounds like mitigation efforts were in place, but they ended right where the houses were protected and the meetinghouse was not. Many people apparently voiced concerns that exactly this type of flooding would occur, exactly where it did.Everybody Wang Chung wrote: ↑Mon Sep 01, 2025 11:20 pm
One must admit, there's a certain poetic irony in the Mormon church being buried in four feet of mud, crap, and debris. Surely the Mormon god wouldn't let a simple microburst—a tiny tantrum of weather—obliterate a house of worship. I bet Zeus wouldn't have let this happen.
While the public works engineer, Gordon Haight, is all "nothing could have prepared them for this," a neighbor named Barry Card is out here saying, "This could have been avoided!" It seems Barry has more faith in a well-constructed debris channel than Mormon god. Perhaps the real miracle here would have been for the city to have a functional, 1,200-foot-long debris channel built before the disaster.
One has to wonder if this is some kind of message, or a sign that even the most devout Mormons should remember to check the local building codes and invest in a decent drainage system. Because heaven helps those who help themselves, and perhaps even more so, those who build with proper mitigation/drainage efforts.

I think you've nailed it. Upthread, I went into a bit more detail on what they've learned and what they've done as a result.Marcus wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 12:17 amAnyway.......back to the topic:It sounds like mitigation efforts were in place, but they ended right where the houses were protected and the meetinghouse was not. The Mental Gymnast is of the opinion he "explained" what happened. As usual, all he did was cut and paste an AI response, with no sources. As usual, that can be ignored.

So you've presented both sides of an argument. Shall the winning side be the one of contemporary convenience?
