After having participated in the following thread a few months ago I am less than impressed with any testimony that was possibly influenced or filtered through the scoundrel, John C. Bennett.

You can go about defending him till the cows come home, but he was a scoundrel. And some of those that he exercised influence over were also reprobates and sinful individuals.
Women should not be discounted from being in this group of hypocritical and unscrupulous folks . Bennett didn't operate or have influence inside of a vacuum, there had to be other players. I have suspicions that Martha Brotherton and Sarah Pratt may have been two of those players along with others. But that's just my opinion after reading the stuff that I did when I participated on the aforementioned thread.
Anyway, that's my two cents for what it's worth.

Yes, just like Sarah Pratt came forward against Joseph. So it's a great comparison.
This is a great podcast. You can listen to it. The Bennett episode is starting at or around 38 minutes. Bennett seems like a great guy. :=0 But I have to feel sorry for Joseph Smith for all the crap he had to go through.

Here we go again with a jim jones comparison. Here is the point of Juliann: these women around Joseph Smith were not stupid or dupes. They were intelligent and wise and also some were very stubborn. But in the end, they would probably kick your butt by implying that they were abused or mislead or dumb.
Why do you always make assertions you have no idea about?
I remember Juliann from past years and I do believe that that is her opinion about the critics and their claims. My own opinion is that these women were not dupes. They were frontier women who had some savvy and will power.

Angel/sword/death. What part of that story don't you understand, Will? The part about Joseph using God as the hammer to getting women to marry him?
And yet we have this:
http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Exodus-5-3/
And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days' journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
The sword fits right into the picture of just who god is. How to explain it?
I am bumping this for harmony. Any comments harmony?

Why Me, would you class the adopted daughter of Joseph Smith (Fanny Alger) as a strong willed savvy frontierswoman? How about 14 year old Helen Mar Kimball?

No, but nice to see you attacking me instead of answering the questions you have been running away from. Continue on. :)
