Responsibility for the "culture" of Mormon Discussion?
Dear Dr. Shades,
Please refrain from introducing any "Greek Culture" unless we have a sufficient supply of Woolite on hand.
Thank you for your consideration in the matter.

Having served as a moderator on another board for the last seven years, I have insisted that the posters treat each other in a civil manner. I have also tried to treat all fairly and allow all their say. I have found that when you are fair to one set of people, another set will be pissed off. Crap happens, but at least the crap has to be civil. Those acting out often come to their senses and apologize when they act like jerks. So far, I have never had to ban anyone.

Why not blame ZLMB?
Wasn't that board responsible for not only the birth of the blues but also the Great San Francisco earthquake of 1906?

Shades,
I think my short answer to your OP question is, "yes". I've come to realize that certain things are so great a turn off to me, that my participation on this board now takes place nearly 90% in chat.

Well I hope they live up to the same standards they have put out. They must destroy the misogynist that offered drugs for sex, then go after the LDS erotica writer.
Nemesis
This is beyond a strange culture. Why are they now insinuating that Will Schyver offered drugs for sex? I can't remember anyone here making that charge. I doubt Will even offered Kimberly Ann one single Walnetto.

beastie wrote:by the way, the culture of this board was that, with two exceptions, every poster that commented on it condemned the Juliann pictures.
After the light was shined on the hypocrisy of condemning Will but not condemning the pictures. Am I really the only one who knew about the pictures but didn't condemn it until MDD pointed out the hypocrisy of it all?

It is troubling, yet I cannot admit surprising, that you support Scratch's 5+ years of character assassination against Dr. Peterson.
If DCP was clearly defamed, I think he wouldn't put up with it.
What options does he have against an anonymous attacker?
A lot of you stupid apologists throw that word around a bit too casually, in my opinion. I'm quite sure you don't know the real legal definition. (Hurry, run to wikipedia!)
So back it up.
Defamation: To defame; to tarnish one's good name.
Scratch, on Dr. Peterson, using a quick search and a very small sample:
"Wow, what a human dung heap DCP is." (15 February 2011)
"one of the most evil and degenerate people that the Church has ever produced" (13 February 2011)
"Is this not yet another instance of what appears to be a very deep character flaw in our most favorite BYU Prof??? Let’s face facts here: this is a deeply dishonest individual who strung along people for months at ZLMB, apparently thinking it was “funny.” His whole behavior on this issue strikes me as being very, very sick indeed." (17 June 2007)
"DCP is obviously a dishonest (and quite possibly pathologically sick) individual. I have hesitated at making these declarations in the past, but it has become clear now that he seems virtually addicted to lying and engaging in smear campaigns." (17 June 2007)
And that's just a few of the thousands of Dr. Peterson related insults and attacks by Scratch that have gone on here over the years. So call me a "stupid apologist" if you wish, but any sane person can clearly see the unhealthy obsession at work.

I might end up making a list later, but I think what it boils down to is, I'd like to see the rules acted on.
Pretty much, that's it.

Simon is persecuted for the same reasons the early Mormon members were persecuted. He is irritating to the general public.
