Thanks for my new sig line.

You tell us, Gaz. Just how does it feel?

when I attended a evangelical class, it was almost funny. I loved when the teacher taught the class that the earth is the center of the universe and that all the things we see in a telescope were placed there to prove that God is real, or something to that effect. Basicly we were Gods sole creation. It was so short sighted it hurt to hear it. I was only there as an observer, so I kept my mouth shut, even when he looked right at me and stated that polygamy was ungodly, when vast scriptural references show otherwise.

Elders quorum is often enlightening, especially when the Holy Ghost is present.

I find them nonsensical. But you were making assertions about Methodists (the sect I grew up in, by the way) which were completely incorrect. And do you actually believe Adam and Eve existed 6,000 years ago?????

Apparently I need to brush up on my Metodism. Point taken, I tend to lump EV's together.

Yes, Adam and Eve were real. You can't have a belief in Christ and not believe in Adam. It doesent work any other way, they go hand in hand.

Moniker, you must remember that to faithful Mormons like Gaz, Adam and Eve were real, and since they were Mormons, the Mormon church (ie: the True Faith of Christ that is currently embodied by the Mormon Church) literally predates every other culture's belief system, and any resemblance of Mormon belief to ancient mythology is actually to be explained as ancient mythology having bastardized the original Truth, which Mormonism has now restored.

Thank you Seth

I was thinking along the same lines. What denomination was this, Gaz? I've been to lots of different denominations and I've never even heard anything taught in Sunday School that wasn't straight from a lil book pre-made that followed along with some Bible story -- nothing there about the earth and the universe.

You say all this with all seriousness, and yet you believe that Adam and Eve were the first people on Earth, around 6,000 years ago. You believe that Noah literally saved humanity from extinction by building a giant wooden ship and putting examples of all the Earth's animal species on it, and floating around for a year while everyone else on the face of the planet were drowned by God. You believe that Joseph Smith took Egyptian funeral spellbooks and pulled a story about Abraham out of them. You believe that Joseph Smith could find buried treasure by looking at a magic rock at the bottom of his hat, and that the same rock was able to show him the translation of some ancient records written in a bastardized version of Egyptian letters spelling out Hebrew words, written by ancient American Israelites.

You're really one to talk, Gaz. You believe that a glorified mammal God came down to Earth and had sex with a young Jewish girl to make her pregnant with his half-man/half-God son. You point and laugh at the EVs for their retarded beliefs, when your own retarded beliefs are just as stupid.

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

Moni,

One thing I noticed in your wiki link was a mural of the Tree of Life. I don't know how steeped you are in the Mormoin beliefs, but the Tree of Life theme is a tad important to us.

Image

One thing I would call attention to is the Aprons, sashs, and caps with strings tied to the shoulders. Also notice that their right arms are held in a square as their left hands hold cups. They are also receiving revelation in the form of a disc, as described by Abraham in his vision of heaven.

They also state that their deitys were a family who practiced sacred marriage. Their Gods brought order out of a formless abyss.

Seth,

So you don't believe that human beings had lived on the Australian continent since about 40,000 years ago, and that human beings had migrated to the American continent roughly 12,000-15,000 years ago? Or, if you do believe those things, you don't believe that they had any religious or spiritual beliefs? This follows, of course, from the "fact", as you believe it, that Adam had the first, original, and true religion about 6,000 years ago, and as you claim, all other religions and religious cultures descend from apostate versions of that original, true, Adamic religion.

You realize what you're claiming is completely undermined by historical and archeological facts, don't you?

Im guessing that the aboriginies were some degenerate offshoot from Ham. How far back I don't know, but it was less than 4,00 years ago.

I believe you are familiar with the Jaredites and Lehites.

Please feel free to share your rebuttals.

It is part of the "Calvary" chapel system. Very nice people, just a bit off doctrinal wise.
