According to LDS theology, an angel is either a non-embodied spirit, a resurrected being, or a translated being.

Is that what they used for the war in heaven, or were mounted tapirs more effective?
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

I commend all those who have the patience and elequance to try and continue reasoning with 'it'.
Your attempts are worthwhile and have merit.

...myself? 'It' went past the point of 'reasoning' - for me - a while back.

When Mercury jumped into a thread and stated that he couldn't wait for the day that he could fire a bullet into the head of a believer, at least he had the smarts to leave it, and not keep jumping back into threads continually promoting such nonsense.
Gaz has no such qualms - because apparently he 'has the prophets behind him'...!

Twat.

Gaz - I have been endowed in the temple and I have 'felt of the spirit'. I am also a fornicator.
It is a serious sexual sin - second only to murder. Correct?
...come after me first please. You're welcome to. Get your fat, sweaty arse on a plane and come here - to my place - with your knife in hand and try and 'save my soul'. Please...

Of course, you run the danger that the knife you bring will end up that same fat, sweaty arse. But - hey - if you really care about my soul, you'd take that risk. Cos - you know - you care so much...

Gaz is supposed to kill me, too, for my unbelief and apostasy. I asked him if he could do it and watch me die, but he never answered.

Gaz, I also sent you a message straight from God but you never responded. And when an atheist gives you a message from God, Gaz, you HAVE to listen, because you know it's for real... Jesus said in Matthew 9:13 -- I will have mercy, and not sacrifice.

How do you respond to that? Can you? Can you respond, and still maintain that one must be sacrificed by blood atonement, when Jesus said he would rather have mercy?

No, I really don't think so. At least, I don't see the brethren supporting any idea of death for adulterers, homosexuals, etc--at least any more than they support Adam-God (except in the Biblical sense of Christ as the Second Adam).

You misunderstood my point.

When the church aggressively pursues an anti-gay marriage agenda, it is a signal to every homophobe in their ranks that their hatred and loathing of gay people is justified. So rather than at least having the sense to hide it, or even to try and rise above it, they will embrace their homophobia to a greater extent than ever before.

This is part of the real devil's bargain. If the converse is true - that not aggressively opposing gay marriage results in too much tolerance towards homosexuality, then aggressively opposing gay marriage will result in too much intolerance towards homosexuality.

Given Jesus' "let who is without sin cast the first stone" attitude, I wonder which side of this debate he'd be on. Does he want "too much tolerance" or "too much intolerance"?
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

I'm sure there's some very sacred, ritualistic setting that Gaz has in mind, with the appropriate prayers and supplications to that mercy-loving Jesus I quoted above.

Gaz, don't kill me before I go back to Italy. I threw a Euro penny in the Trevi fountain, and when you do that, it means you are going to return to Rome again one day. So I have to go back -- it's ordained by Bernini. Do you want to go with me? I'll buy you a chocolate gelato, and we can eat it in the shade of the Pantheon, my favorite place of all. Or maybe with your predilections, you would prefer to go to the Coliseum? You can choose, if you want. I'm not particular. Except about the chocolate. :)

Heh. Well, normally I'd say 'Ladies first'.
But I don't think it would count as polite in this situation...!

I wonder, if Gaz became friends with us, would he still kill us? If he loved us, could he still do it?

If he ever made friends with a homosexual person, could he still cut their throats? Does Gaz have the ability to see that love Trump's scripturally-unsubstantiated calls for murdering his fellow human beings?
