Most of us here have been banned from MDDB at one time or another (I was included in one of the first purges). The Mods at MDDB do not welcome open and honest debate. They've always been that way.
I recently had an account I used to post under thirty times. I posted completely innocuous stuff. This account was recently banned, probably because I was using it to follow certain threads. Those MDDB guys are seriously nuts.

why me wrote:Rollo, the critics or Mormon haters bombarded the church with hateful emails even though these people never read the piece in question.
What are your sources here, why me? How many emails? Do you have any quotes? Who in the COB has gone on the record to attest to the existence of this flood of emails?
Please share; I seriously want to know.
Bill has claimed that his department is still getting hateful emails about him. Lets face it, it is a critic tactic.

Has anyone beside Bill seen this emails or made this claim. We only have his word for it. And that is not good enough.

Rollo Tomasi wrote:You have absolutely NO evidence that the Church was "bombarded by hateful emails" nor any evidence of "hate spewed" about DCP and others. Stop exaggerating and stick to the facts. Everyone here would "tolerate" a well-reasoned and researched scholarly paper -- Smith's essay was none of these things. It was libel, pure and simple.
This tension and clash of ideologies within the Maxwell Institute came to a head when an anonymous source inside the Institute leaked material to Dehlin, advising him that Gregory Smith, one of the co-editors of the Mormon Studies Review, had prepared a detailed, heavily-referenced critique of Dehlin’s online material and podcast series. Dehlin responded by e-mailing a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy in late March and asking “if this is this something that you feel is appropriate for FARMS to do?” Noting that his source reported that the Institute was preparing a “hit piece” against him, Dehlin denounced the article (which he had not then, and still has not read) and warned, “If such a piece is, indeed, in the works — I would like notice so that I can contact Elder [Apostle] as well. My guess is that he wouldn’t approve of this either.”
According to a source close to the controversy, shortly after this e-mail exchange (in which Peterson and other Mormon scholars were included by carbon-copy), Peterson was made away of a top-level BYU administrator requesting that the article not be published. Peterson and his team complied, and prevented the article in question from being published. Shortly thereafter, rumors began spreading wildly on the internet regarding the content of Smith’s review, the alleged involvement of General Authorities, and, later, the reason behind the dismissal of Peterson as editor of the Mormon Studies Review, with Dehlin actively participating on different message boards and Peterson responding on his personal blog.
Do you really believe that the critics only conducted their hate via the internet message boards? Read between the lines.

Because no member in good standing (MGS) would ever be offended that a fellow member of the is creating religious tests for fellow members.
No MGS would ever be offended that a fellow member would post "apostasy in high places" as a response to a Hamblin thread.
No MGS would ever be offended by the constant bombardment of Hamblin directed toward Bradford.
You have posted some very stupid crap Whyme, but suggesting that only a antimormon would be offended and send an email about Hamblins conduct is about the most ignorant tripe you have posted.
It ranks and reeks right up there with suggesting Bradford was on par with a murderer. Please think before you post.

...This, despite the fervent back-slapping evident in the comments to Rollo's review over at the other board. They amount to nothing more than "yeah, I didn't like it either" comments being shouted in an echo chamber
Echo Chamber? Echo Chamber? Now, Awyatt...which board bans people for disagreeing with folks like Greg Smith? Really, which board is the echo chamber? Come on...have some nuts and call it the way it is.
Once again...the MDD crew demonstrate just how brain washed they really are.

Bill's claim is not proof and it is not even what you claimed. You said that the Church was receiving a flood of emails from critics. Are you now acknowledging that your claim was false?
You haven't produced any evidence to back up your charge.

mormonstories wrote:I definitely foresaw the possibility of a serious internal church review on official BYU/Church-related apologetic tactics....but I never envisioned DCP's dismissal. That exceeded my expectations, and I think had more to do with his reaction to the affair than my actions.
But was there a official review? It seems DCP's dismissal was devised years before any of this had happened, while scheming went on behind his back. This event very well could have sparked the official dismissal though.
Love ya tons, Stem

Um, why me, you still haven't produced one piece of evidence. John Dehlin wrote in response to the information that he was targeted for a Smith hit piece. This is not the flood of emails to the Church you have claimed exists.
Stop making unsupportable, bogus claims that are based on little more than your prejudices.
