Bishop adamantly denied the allegations through his son, Gregory Bishop, who questioned the woman's credibility, saying she has accused 10 other men of sexual assault, sexual harassment or assault without charges being filed and has sought cash settlements in other cases. In 2010, she threatened to kill Bishop, according to police records and her own statements.

I think the Deseret News should have verified if she accused “10 other men.” I don’t think they should have just repeated it without making some phone calls at least.

Thanks Water Dog. Since he admitted to asking her to expose herself it is very likely in my opinion he is guility of the rest. Claiming he can’t remember is such a stupid lie.
Thanks to the Tribune for doing actual Journalism.
Apologies to the accuser for my skepticism on the off chance she visits this board.

Newsroom has also quietly replaced their original press release to conceal their lying about pertinent facts.

The Newsroom statement looks pretty bad after the Tribune article.

The matter resurfaced in 2016 when the same individual contacted a stake president in Pueblo, Colorado, and then again a few weeks ago in January 2018, when the Church was contacted by a lawyer representing her. He provided a copy of a recording that she had made of a conversation between her and 85-year-old Joseph Bishop in December 2017. Since that time, the Church has engaged in an investigation of this individual’s allegations. In the course of that investigation, both she and Mr. Bishop have been interviewed by outside legal counsel. Not surprisingly, the stories, timelines and recollections of those involved are dramatically different. This woman reaffirmed her allegations, and Mr. Bishop has again denied them. We have no record of an interview between Elder Carlos E. Asay (1926-1999) and this individual.

There is no doubt they had the December police report if they were in settlement talks. And while the stories were still different they knew Bishop was at very least guility of asking her to expose herself.

And the line about not having a record of the interview. Who the hell cares given what they already knew? It was just a desperate cheap shot to undermine her credibility.

For God sakes, why the hell didn’t they throw him under the bus?

Holy crap.

Young women get kicked out of BYU for reporting their rapes, yet the BYU police had a sexual assault report on Bishop in 84 and the church did nothing? Or am I misreading the timeline on this thing? Ah, this police report happened in December (2017). Not in 84.

Yeah, first report to U police was 2017.

Thank you, sunstoned. With the march coming up, that's a lot of well deserved pressure.

Think any more victims will come forward?
