Yes...great job on continuing to exploit a private board.

Given all the tongue wagging from a "private" board directed at the posters on this public one, I am not sure who is exploiting the private board more.

I am the administrator of that private board. This thread has gone on for 8 pages, and this was my first comment.

Considering that Scratch has published whole cloth conversations from my board, which is private, are you saying that I don't have a right to be just a little upset by that?

I am also disappointed in the person who gave Scratch the information. He betrayed the trust of the members of my board in doing so. I have encouraged him to come forward to me privately, and I hope that he considers doing so.

liz, you may certainly be upset. I was not implying that you should not.

I was pointing up how you have explained here before that your board was created as a safe haven for some posters from threads that degrade into personal attacks, and yet from what I've seen that is exactly what is taking place there--personal attacks.

MDB is what it is because it has light rules and light moderation, and is open to the public. You will have to moderate with an iron fist like Juliann's board is if you are to keep your utopian board, free of personal attacks.

It is unseemly to find out, as have I as a result of this thread, that I have been a target of personal attacks on your board, attacks by some that do not have the courage to come here and level those attacks against me, in the open and where I can respond. (RayA, your an exception, but I did not think it worth responding to your rant. At least you have the cajones to post it out in the open, in public and where I would have the opportunity to respond, if I wanted to.)

liz, your board's 'privacy' is fostering the very thing that you claimed it was created to prevent. You are going to have to moderate with a heavy hand, or all you have done is created a place where personal attacks will flourish. Or, you could let it be sanitized by being open to public viewing, but keeping the registration closed to your invitation-only.

I'm fairly new here and I still mainly just come on to read the topics and posts. So, I am not very familiar with the members here, their histories with each other and so on.

But just coming in cold here, it really strikes me as being odd that one of the moderators on this forum would break off and start their own "by invitation only" forum.

What is being discussed there that can't be discussed publicly on here? Why so exclusive and secretive?

Kind of like temple worthiness, most of us here are simply not worthy.

No doubt. Fortunately, I'd already seen them on the same tour here in the PHX area, but getting a second bite at that apple is always welcome. However, sometimes life gets in the way. In my case, that's what happened. Unfortunately, I didn't handle the communication to SP/Nimrod well and now I rank just below cockroaches on his list of things to hate.

Think about it. It makes perfect sense. DCP doesn't like Liz's board anymore and to get back at her he sent all this stuff to scratch. Plus I think he likes the attention :)

ttribe handled the U2 ticket matter with gold stars on his forehead. He did not 'screw that up'. All I was asking was for face value of the tickets. Because of the postponement, the ticket office had to refund me that (and it did). I thought I'd offer them to a fellow U2 fan before turning them back to perhaps be picked up by a corporation to give them out as perks to 'tourists' (it's junior exec types that wouldn't know U2 from REM). ttribe was under no expectation by me, much less compunction to buy the tickets, or to handle it in any other way than he did.

My sole beef with ttribe has been his whining, see his posts from September 2010 until he stopped. That's all I have ever had issue with ttribe concerning. His whining became beyond bearable--it was a pre-cursor to stemelbow.

As far as the man-up part, boy, is that rich from a guy that started this false U2 issue, doing so in the darkness of a 'private' board.

Ok....got it. Is she still going to continue being a moderator on this forum? It seems that what she did would sorely undermine her effectiveness or influence on this forum now. The whole thing just strikes me as being a crumby thing to do.

I have been a Moderator on this board since virtually the creation of the board.

Shades and I are good friends, and I certainly hold no malice toward him. My board was not createtd to be in competition with this board in any way. The focus is simply different. It is a board for NOMs (New Order Mormons), and was created for those in this unique situation to be able to freely discuss issues in Mormonism without the fear of personal attack which tends to ensue from both sides of the aisle. Those I have invited to the board are personal friends of mine. Many of them are from MDB, but not all of them are. It is simply a private Internet message board. There are many on the Internet. Unfortunately, Scratch, upon finding out about it, made a grand gesture, and publicized its existance several months ago. I had not wanted to hurt people's feelings, but that is unfortunately what happened.

But it has created competition. I don't see a lot of those posters posting on here anymore because they have some other place they can post. I like reading their posts but I don't see them anymore. Sure there are some that said they would not ever post here again and that's fine but lots on your board will post here but they just choose to post on your board now. If you didn't create that board they would post more often here.

I guess I'm just being selfish because I miss some of those posters and I like reading what they have to say.
