I vote we start a witch hunt to find those among us who are not faithful to their ex-Mormon beliefs.
Yes, Sammy Jankins. This is true. If there is one thing you need to learn about being a real ex-Mormon, it is that a real ex-Mormon must have exactly the same kind of rigidity of belief as the most naïve TBM, but of the falsity instead of the truth of Mormonism.
Just say, in every way you can, every day: "I know that Mormonism is false. I know with every fiber of my being that Joseph Smith was not a prophet of God. I know that Thomas S. Monson is not his prophet on the earth today. I know that God does not live. That Jesus is not the Christ."
If you do this, and agree with other ex-Mormons in positions of influence and power, then you too can be a true ex-Mormon, and you will be saved from the accusation of being Mormon.
Mormons can have the rigidity of belief. I am more interested in the rigidity of facts.

Now I am really beginning to wonder about all of those widows.
What shocking truths lie behind these nice stories about wholesome visits to elderly women?

Brad Hudson wrote:Steve, what does Patton's military record say?
Patton's military record (as manifest in crew-member manifests and transfer logs) show no cause, place or date of death. Comprehensive WW II casualty lists do not mention him as having been killed in action, died of wounds or missing due to operations in combat zones.
This has been covered in my previous postings here, but I am happy to emphasize it again.
Steve, why can't you give a straight forward answer to a straight forward question: Have you requested and reviewed Patton's entire service record? You know, from the navy?

That realization may not have occured in too much depth until deeper details of Monson's fabulous fabrications were noted and examined, point by point.

Gentlemen, I just want to reiterate the unforgiving facts that Mr. Steve Benson has reiterated for re-emphasis. Patton did not die in battle. Thomas S. Monson said he did. Thomas S. Monson also changed his story. We can see, therefore, that Thomas S. Monson said something that was not true, and that he probably discovered it was not true and changed his story. Unfortunately, that version of the story was also not true.
It seems to me that this is the way it is, and I have no argument to refute these apparent facts.

Might I recommend following up on the widows? The sex angle really sells a story.
Facts are fine and whatnot, but juicy facts are much, much better.

I want to share my testimony that I know what Steve has shared is true.
Without an obsessive-compulsive analysis of Monson's widow-stories, Mormonism would flourish. There really are no other problems to consider.
Does anyone happen to know if Steve Benson has acknowledged that in 2011, members of this message board researched and debunked Thomas S. Monson's Arthur Patton story?
Or would that somewhat lessen the impact of this Stunning Revelation By Steve Benson That All You Mormons Are In Denial Over?
No, I'm sure Steve Benson is not the mirror image of Daniel Peterson, including the accompanying cult of personality. So of course Steve Benson has credited Mormon Discussions member Just Me with the research she already did into this.
