Re: The Nehor has left the building...
Well Tarski, I think there's a huge difference between being realistic with Nightlion and making fun of him. I did the latter. I don't believe I've interacted with him much since then, so if I endorse him it's through silence. Maybe I should correct him more, but rants against the learned are relatively easy for me to stomach. When I was a missionary, I often ranted against man's wisdom which rejected my message.
That's General Leo. He could be my friend if he weren't my enemy.

To play along with this stuff -to humor [them]--actually shows less respect in my opinion since it is similar to what one would to with a small child who tells you that they are building a rocket to the moon.
I believe [they deserve] an honest reality check rather than to be humored like a child or someone locked up in a rubber room. Ultimately, it is the more respectful and caring thing to do. Otherwise you are making [them] feel that you take [their] ideas seriously when you secretly feel the opposite. [They] wouldn't like to be messed with in that way.
So my policy is to keep it real.
That is one reason for my break with the board in late June. Why trifle with people that have unfounded beliefs, whether alone or in a herd? Why not keep it real and tell TBMs that they believe in BS with no basis? But if you keep it real and call BS to the TBMs, you're branded here as running the TBMs off. For critics like myself that realize that all Mormonism and its beliefs are is a big pile of BS, you don't keep it real by "respectfully" playing along with the deluded. You call it like it is, you call BS.

I appreciate your explanation. I thought you ran off because you were an idiot, but I was mistaken.

Your problem or frustration comes in, most likely, because you wish to say beliefs are wrong as per your required standards. That's fine for you, but for believers who actually believe God works spiritually on the individual your complaints come off as missing the mark, at best. All you do when you support your claim that the beleifs are all wrong is complain about the weaknesses when applied to science or history, but you don't prove the bleiefs wrong, even though you'll undoubtedly, dogmatically, claim you do.
Its a matterof being able to converse honestly and intelligently on these topics without pushing people way by being rude, condescening, and by intentionally misunderstanding. At least that's how I see it. You just come off as an arrogant little weiner who doesn't want to open up and discuss with anyone things you only assume you know.

Maybe like liz I will start my own sandbox, and dictate who gets in and who does not. I could call it, the "I Know Mormonism is BS" board. Despite the loneliness at the top, autocracy might be a fun, ego-gratifying gig. Never tried it before.
My frustrations about MDB stem from indulging the deluded, as if they have a point worthy of consideration when it is obvious they do not (pun intended).
Mature conversations about Mormonism are couched in the context of the fascination presented through observing adults in particular believing baseless myths and notions, clinging to them despite logic, reason and facts. At least NOMs have the good sense to take what value that might find in the social construct undergirding Mormonism, and tossing those quaint, 18th Century notions that JSJr, BY and JT concocted.
Just keeping it real, in line with Tarski's policy.

I never expected from this yahoo such insight into his own reasons for running off, even though he seems to mistakenly think his own reasons are everyone else's.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.

Keeping it real was just one reason. There might yet be room for your prior theory.

That sounds that it'll suit you better. If you don't have any interest in really discussing openly with LDS folks, then I can see how you'd get frustrated here.
My frustrations about MDB stem from indulging the deluded, as if they have a point worthy of consideration when it is obvious they do not (pun intended).
So you're all about condescension? I suppose that's cool. If you don't want to accept that people who have faith find reason to hold onto that faith, then surely you aren't going to openly discuss with Mormons, or any religionist. you've already decided on it all. there would be no reason to discuss.

Hey, its cool. You have decided for yourself. I see no reason why you should talk to ohter humans who you clearly have such a low view of. Let them rot if they won't be convinced by your arrogant hostility. I get it.
Just keeping it real, in line with Tarski's policy.
Indeed, you have shown your "true colors" as they say. You have no interest in listening or conversing, really. You just want everyone to join you in your views, and if they don't they are bad people, to some weird extent.
