I find it fascinating that Mormons can criticise people for giving advice to others about leaving their religion when that religion is Mormonism, but will cheer on their missionaries and laud any success when they give advice to people about leaving their religion in favour of joining Mormonism.
It’s a clear double standard. It’s blatant hypocrisy. But they don’t see it.
But Mormons are encouraging people to leave the church of the devil, right? And Mormonism is the church of the Lamb of God
1 Nephi 14:10 wrote:Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil
Why would you not want people to leave the devil behind, and join the church of the Lamb of God instead?
One would always hope that another person would be able to discern what is true and what is not true. The apostle Paul was right, however. We work out our own salvation. God forces no man to choose one thing over another.
But Mormons are encouraging people to leave the church of the devil, right? And Mormonism is the church of the Lamb of God
Why would you not want people to leave the devil behind, and join the church of the Lamb of God instead?

I read about Nelson's visit to the Pope in my relative's Catholic newsletter. For the Pope, it was a very minor event, squeezed in next to a visit from a cyclist who had won a race in Europe recently. It didn't sound like the Pope knew who Nelson was any more than he knew who the cyclist was. They were just on his schedule as extremely brief visits, back to back, by people wanting to honor the Pope. The Pope was always extremely gracious in his visits with numerous people, according to this newsletter.

No more so than if President Nelson visited any one of a number of religious leaders. Which he has. There is nothing more special about the Pope.

My interpretation: people generally don't believe the LDS church has the truth because they discern correctly that it does not.
I could be wrong, of course, and it could simply be that the methods used by the church are uninspired and extremely inefficient, and that the "Holy Ghost" is really badly off his game.

Why hasn’t President Nelson been able to convince a single solitary other Church leader that they are mistaken and should join the SLC LDS Church. Has he even tried? And if not, why hasn’t he? He expects members to try and convert their neighbours and work colleagues.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
