I think that it should be patently obvious to everyone that the Book of Mormon is a 19th century production. There shouldn't be any disagreement over this. The question is whether it is dependent on an ancient Nephite source (as a translation), was authored wholly by a 19th century author, or whether it is based on some earlier (but not ancient) work, or a composite work involving one or more of these options. This is an important distinction in my opinion.
Benjamin McGuire.
Now what happened to word-by-word appearance of the translation? Is he beginning to accept the composite work theory? (which may or may not include Spalding. Too much ego to concede that.)

In the end, if the probability of 0.000...0001% * infinite tries = an infinite probability, then the probability is > 1. And if the probability of an occurrence is > 1 * infinite tries, the occurrences are also infinite.
I love RenegadeOfPhunk's response:
A probability figure greater than 1 huh?
...is that like when Spinal Tap turn their amps up to 11?

Well Now I've gone and done it. I just got a firm dressing down from MfBukowski!
I am done with you here. This is exactly what you do on the trailer park- and just like Gad especially you start off with condescending passive-aggressive put-downs and then proceed to play to the "peanut gallery" with absolutely no substantive point whatsoever, and keep wearing down your victim with little personal jabs designed to irritate and put down. You are so much like Gad- and Scratch, I wonder.... I really do. They have at least taught you well their tricks, and perhaps there is more to it than that. I don't know or care.
If I had the power I would kick out off this thread- you just wear and wear and wear and never stop posting your silly jibes. That's it.
Honored to be tossed in with Scratch and Gad though!
I don't think that a person who was able to raise himself from the dead, walk on water, and appear in the midst of a group of people in a locked room would have too much difficulty in hovering in the air either.
I really can't disagree with this. ;)

To assume that people who are gay are deprived of agency is an insult to them. It denigrates them to the point where they are no more than animals, destined to become slaves to their temptations whatever the cause.
I cannot speak to books I have not read. I will state that a non centralized religion opened to distinct measures of interpretation by different tribal and patriarchial groups allows for many different and sometimes violent action which one can easily state "reveals" true doctrine, even when it is really only the actions of a few violent and misquided individuals.
