And now Pal Joey arrives, beating his monotonous drum.

When the quality of academic arguments is determined by popularity contests, and the cogency of academic reasoning is evaluated by polling people unfamiliar with it, Joey will be recognized as one of the great thinkers of the early twenty-first century, a prophetic figure in the world of scholarship.

Until then, he'll simply be a monomaniac with a single dumb idea.

It's rather amusing to see my malevolent stalker, more than two years into his campaign of perpetual spin and defamation, whining about my supposed discourtesy in failing to publicize his pseudonym for him.

Well, hey---you are the one claiming that FARMS Review is a legit academic journal. And besides, I can only bow in deference to your superiority in terms of spin and defamation. You, FARMS, and you l-skinny compatriots have been at this far, far longer than I have.

Mister Scratch wrote:I guess we can take this as a sign of FARMS's academic ethics.

You can take it as a very minor two-year-old editorial decision of mine.

But, clearly---it's not just that. Weird footnotes and manipulation of evidence and smearing has occurred in dozens of FARMS articles. Three instances, from Professor Hamblin, were cited above.

Mister Scratch wrote:If you are a real man about this, and aren't afraid of whatever repercussions might fall, then you'd print the correction. I will wait patiently to see if you are man enough to do it.

You can wait forever, so far as I'm concerned. I'm not so insecure in my masculinity as to need your validation of it.

That's fine. Your failure to fix the error---and everything that failure says about you and about FARMS---is perfectly and deliciously gratifying to me.

I'm pretty sure it says they think you're largely irrelevant.

I could be wrong.

Who would've believed it? When Mormons get together they look and act like a bunch of regular folks. Kerry included. I met him a couple of years ago up at FAIR. Nice guy. I can see him doing a "home grown" video of the proceedings and personalities at FAIR. What I don't get is all the Roger Ebert stuff going on around here. Things must be kinda slow...

I think it is more that the "slow things" must be kinda going.

one moment, of the well of life to taste-

You're pretty close.

I think he's irrelevant.

Nobody else at the Maxwell Institute even knows he exists.

The Brackite Pretty much wishes that Mister Scratch and DCP, could get along a bit better with each other.

If Master Scartch abandons his campaign of slander, spin, and defamation, I'll pay no further attention to him -- which, I realize, would be far the wisest course even if, as is virtually certain, he keeps it going for years to come.

OK - credit must be given where credit is due. This was pretty funny.

Maybe she could do a FARMS review with those a priori skills.
