Telestial: those who do not wish to be baptised

Terrestrial: Those baptised but not faithful

Celestial: Those baptised and faithful

This is oversimplification I know, but I think you see my point. Also reference John 3:3-5

Is it offensive to people of other faiths?

I say yes, particularly if it's done to people who died for their religious beliefs or identify (Holocaust victims).

What's says the panel?

Well, from the outside looking in, I would say that many of us look at it as a complete misreading of 1 Cor 15:29.

1 Cor 15 has to be taken in context, and, as such, indicates that the practice of "baptism for the dead" was not practiced by Paul or those he helped convert, but by fringe groups whom he uses as an argument for the resurrection.

A whole church practice and ordinance from reading something into it that isn't there.

But still no requirement for resurrection.
