Plutarch wrote:It may surprise you to know that the D&C mandates Church tracking and copying of anti-Mormon publications to use as a testament in the hereafter.
The D&C does no such thing. But apparently someone is employed to "track 6,500 anti-Mormon websites."
You can say what you want but it has been known for over a hundred years that the Church believes it has a mandate to archive anti-Mormon material. As I have said, Nibley has written about this in his works. Your private interpretation just does not square with Church procedure.
Now, what is the specific evidence that someone is employed to track 6,500 anti-Mormon websites. Not that I would find it surprising but I'd like to see it.
Paronia I think I spelled it right...can lead to many good drugs that doctors will prescribe for you...trust me I know...
But these drugs are like a drink for the brain...they work very well...but they are for temporary use only...
I like the drugs but being off the drugs is much better...At least I will see them coming and can at least fight back...
Being on the drugs will only make me happy when they are attacking me...and I will not be able to fight back with all of my
smarts.
We must fight back and keep on posting and I am with INFYMUS...I hope they are watching...because I have stock in file cabinets...so the more they need the more money we will make
When I wake up I will be hungry....but this feels so good right now aaahhhhhh........

Their outline states, in part, that "the LDS Church tracks about 6,500 anti-LDS Web sites." So much for the FAIRites' denials thereunto. Big Brother, anyone?
At any rate, there are two more utterly priceless quotes in that article. Can you find them?
It may surprise you to know that the D&C mandates Church tracking and copying of anti-Mormon publications to use as a testament in the hereafter. The Church has the world's largest paper and electronic copy of anti-Mormon publications in the world. But, nobody is employed to read or act upon what is copied and deposited in the archives. [The Church is about 10 years behind the commercial world in data mining, however. The church's approach to technology is very very dated; the Family History system (which generates the IGI), for instance, is not a real time system.] The archives are available to researchers. Hugh Nibley has written about this library and what the Church does with it.
Well if the D&C says its ok I guess its just peechy.
You are unable to recognise that MormonCorp is in an ethical bind unless its purpose is to take action suggested by the pro-truth sites it indexes.
Anything else would be bailing out a sinking ship.

Once again your rhetoric and logic are impeccable. I bow to them.

They also believed (and still do) they have/had a right to commit frontier piracy, racism, bigamy and institutionalized masochism to name a very small sample of offenses.

You may have missed my first question concerning this.... does the church gather only untrue "anti" material; that which is on non-faith promoting sites that is true?
Also, could you provide the source for Nibley's work elaborting on this policy.
I have never heard of this mandate that the church is under Godly directive to archive anti-mormon material and it sounds so odd to me since I have red very little that is untrue.
Also, the information I discovered on the FAIR board was every bit as damaging as what one would find on RFM so, is it the site that determines what is or is not considered "anti"? Or the person sharing the information? Or whether the information is faith promoting or not regardless of whether it is true?

It's not my private interpretation -- it's the plain language of D&C 123. It's Church procedures that do not "square" with D&C 123, if that is the basis on which to claim such a "mandate."
"Moving beyond apologist persuasion, LDS polemicists furiously (and often fraudulently) attack any non-traditional view of Mormonism. They don't mince words -- they mince the truth."
-- Mike Quinn, writing of the FARMSboys, in "Early Mormonism and the Magic World View," p. x (Rev. ed. 1998)
The thing is, though, does the CHURCH actually do as Plutarch suggests? Does the church interpret the D&C as Plutarch asserts?
I read the D&C as do you and even if the church interprets it as does Plutarch I think it is nonsense but still...
I'm curious why Plutarch thinks (or knows) the church is collecting material and what that material contains?
For example, does it contain information about Joseph Smith showing his behavior was less than stellar? If it is true why would it be held against someone?
In other words, is the church angry at those sharing truth because it is less than faith promoting? And if so, why is the church not collecting material from apologists who certainly share this same information?
