Mormonism was based on folk magic, at its core in the beginning.
And crawling on the planet's face
Some insects called the human race
Lost in time
And lost in space...and meaning

I was thinking that through this thread. Wondering if the "magical" appealed to Nephi and Dulcinea.

Its what kept my attention in a certain way. Freemasonry, magic and a close similarity to kaballistic philosophy kept me in before I came to my senses.

I does for me, to an extent, but falls short of the raw power of it in occult circles. I wish I could find something that has the concentrated efforts spiritual magic within the LDS community, but the raw power of it w/in the occult.

Where are you now with all this? I've seen you mention a few things and have been wondering. But there was no appropriate thread to ask. :)

Well I'm just really an unfortunate soul I guess. I just don't get anything out of either one of those communities.

I find mysticism of any kind silly and unnecesary, unless its involving meditation and mental exercises without any "spititual" context.

I'm going through my degrees curently in Freemasonry as well.

That's sort of where I thought you'd stand currently. :)

I don't think I understand - do you not see meditation as being spiritual in nature?

In a way I would say that you are right, at least for me. The patterns and similarities were so strong I was often struck speechless.
